    March NOT frugals!

Not frugal, but definitely a necessary purchase. My laptop was no longer able to be updated and I have been unable to do our taxes. Bit the bullet and with the help of wonderful and knowledgeable family members, bought a new laptop. Cheaper than expected, but still a lot. Have been getting it loaded and unloaded and set up the way I want - ongoing process. LOL. But I'm happy with it and ready to get taxes done this week - hopefully. (It's an ACER Aspire Go 15 - good enough for my needs.)

Went shopping and stocked cupboards and freezer to the max. Bought like $40 in canned goods without regard to price. The way the economy and trump economics is going … it is time to prepare for higher prices or possible shortages on everything. There is talk of trump’s immigration fiasco causing potential shortages of produce being harvested. Watching trump talk of asking allies (now nonexistent) for help with the tankers in the Strait of Hormuz…. not happening and imagine gas prices to explode. Seems like a good time to prepare for the worst!

Harvesting produce has already been affected. Have a sibling in CA who said - last year - citrus fruits were falling off the trees and rotting on the ground because there was no one to pick. When I did my cross-country trip at the end of last year, I saw it for myself. Way more produce laying on the ground than could be attributed to any "normal" losses. So sad to see!

I have actually been trying to eat down the pantry, but I may renew a stock-up on some basics. Thanks for the reminder.

do not make me report everything I’m doing that is not at all frugal. Don’t make me! I’m not gonna do it.

but the latest thing is, I’m having professional window treatments done for my bedroom. You don’t wanna know how expensive that is for two smallish windows. Honestly, if our house was completely done on construction, I might have DH help me figure out how to make these blinds, but I need his help and I do not want to distract him from house construction.

i’ve always wondered why the government can’t issue temporary work documents in whatever form they wish to call it, for immigrant workers to do the necessary work that is obviously necessary. Do they all have to be here illegally? Why is that?

It is a very expensive month so far. Changing out a non-fuctioning Costco toilet turned into discovering a leak in the wall that had been active for several days. Filed an insurance claim because the plumber said it looked bad. They required asbestos and lead testing since wet sheetrock had to come out. Positive for asbestos (duh-60 yo house). Abatement required - men in hazmat suits. How many walls have we torn out ourselves over the years remodeling houses and no one mentioned asbestos. Anyway, lowball claim estimate came back just under our deductible so we are out whatever all of this ends up costing. The bathroom walls were removed to the studs so we have to basically redo everything.

Happy: I got an Acer Swift 14.5 last year, and I've been happy enough with it.

I have had Acer laptops, but a long time ago. I'm amazed at how easy this has been to transition my personal stuff from the old to the new. So far, it's been great and I have had no buyer's remorse. LOL

Happy Stuff I am happy to hear the transfer was easy. I have been putting off the switch over from my windows 10 hp to a new hp laptop. Called a local tech business and the woman gave me the confidence to do it, the suggestion to NOT buy a new tower and just go with the laptop since I already had it. Just making that decision helped, then I need to make the laptop physically usable as it hurts my neck...Frugal to keep it but unfrugal to have to buy all these attachments to make it work, but cheaper than a new tower. Now to transfer!!!
