article 6 of the NATO treaty states they will come to aid “when a country is the victim of an armed attack.” Does this war meet the criteria?

Pete Hesgeth has just asked for $200 billion more to fund the war. “ It takes money to kill bad guys”

this will not help the soaring national debt

Thank you for that. Sometimes it seems that way. I was taught not to disturb a hornet's nest unless willing to pay the consequences. Just what we've done...

[QUOTE=iris lilies;453650][QUOTE=Rogar;453647]If I have my news source correct, the U.S. is only sending a minimal amount of military support to the war Ukraine and the bulk of foreign aid to the war is coming from the EU. However the US is still selling weapons to the EU. It makes my head spin thinking about how much those aircraft carriers and cruise missiles are costing us taxpayers.
I just don’t think about it, it’s all too depressing.

“ Beware the military -industrial complex” said someone, I think Eisenhower.
Yes, it was Eisenhower. Very credible source.

    From his farewell address:

A vital element in keeping the peace is our military establishment. Our arms must be mighty, ready for instant action, so that no potential aggressor may be tempted to risk his own destruction. . . . American makers of plowshares could, with time and as required, make swords as well. But now we can no longer risk emergency improvisation of national defense; we have been compelled to create a permanent armaments industry of vast proportions. . . . This conjunction of an immense military establishment and a large arms industry is new in the American experience. . . .Yet we must not fail to comprehend its grave implications. . . . In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist.

Stock market is down almost 800 points again today! We have trump to thank for that! Watching the national debt increase exponentially under his reign too! Speaking of which, tomorrow is the ‘No King’s Day’ National protest around the country. Engage in a location near you!

Estimate over 3,000 turned out for the protest here in the red state of Texas. Cops, bus drivers and many others blew horns in solidarity! It was necessary to show distaste for the current regime IMO! I am sick with the crud and still went! I hope the media coverage all over the country shows our displeasure!

Organizers say more than 3,100 events have been registered in all 50 states, with more than 9 million people expected to participate.

If I can grudgingly respect my DH's high opinion of Trump, I can respect yours. It is not always easy being split on strong feelings about Trump--in fact I have insisted we don't talk politics. DH loves trying to bait me, and sometimes I buckle, and it never ends well. I would have been at the rally today, but DH is in the hospital being monitored for a new treatment, and I felt it was better to be here with him, even though he supports Trump. That's a good wife for you. He should thankk Mee.
