Okay---yesterday, it was cold n' damp in Zurra. The catts were on lock down and even though Fuzzy pulled off an escape, it wasn't long before he wanted back in. Okay--couldn't really follow up on outside projects, but in the afternoon USPS dropped off 4 bike inner tubes I ordered outta Madison, Wi. Yes, I coulda gone local on tubes, but I needed a specific type & I don't like to waste time driving to the bike shop(s) to see if they have them in stock. No, not call ahead, either. Don't want to waste their time, either, if what they do have in stock doesn't suit me. See? Anyway, they're 700c x 28, with a long, non-threaded, presta valve stem. The stems are a bit long, but they'll be fine. Just under $30 for 4. 2 to put on, and two for spares. Okay---these are going on my 1987 Trek 1000 bonded aluminum. The various and differing parts of the frame are glued--yup--glued together, and the fork on the 1000 is all steel, made by Tange. Yup. See--some of the bonded al Treks used aluminum forks, too. Don't screw up, and hit a curb; you'll bend it and replacements are hard to find. Anyway, this bike, which I bought as a used frame set on EBay, years ago for $69 plus shipping from Placerville, Ca, is getting another set of wheels. I picked up these rims used, from an F-book seller for $100, several years ago. I figured they were just cheapies(turns out they're not), but now I figure they were taking up space at his place, would not fit anything he currently owned, and would only accept a 9-speed cassette, tubed tires & rim brakes. But, that's what I have, though all the Cool People who are in Professions and the Medical Field have "upgraded" to the very latest things, and would not be caught riding an obsolete bike, like mine. But, anyway--I used the tires I already had, the new toobs, and the second-hand rims, to put the package together. I don't have a photo of this particular bike to offer, right now. That calls for a whole other story. But, I DO have a photo of hollyweird man-slapper Willie Smith to post. Also, of an egg-checker. Hope that helps you some. Thankk Mee.2022-03-30 (5).jpg2022-03-30 (4).jpg
