Old Corelle shattered, too! We had it growing up in the 70s and 80s. My mother was once struggling to open a pickle jar while standing at her place at the kitchen table. Jar slipped, fell on her plate, and shards everywhere.

I have Corelle from maybe 2005 and it was made in the US.
