NutriBullet - does anyone have one of these?

I have a Bed, Bath & Beyond gift card from some exchanged gifts that I have been holding onto for a while and the NutriBullet caught my eye today.

I have found them cheaper at other places, but here's the link from Bed Bath and Beyond

Here's the first youtube video review that came up (fast forward toward end if you want to keep an additional 5 minutes of your life)

    Here's the cheesey official website:

THIS IS BY NO MEANS A NECESSITY!!!
I have a blender that seems to work fine, maybe not as powerful as this.. and it's a little cumbersome to use/clean.
But I've got the gift card & want to make a wise purchase for something I will use.

I watched Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead and it really got me thinking -- not enough to do anything about it right then, but I've had something pretty significant happen to me that has gotten my attention to make real lasting change.

I have an old school juicer (from late 90s) that was just too difficult to clean and created a mess.
I am turning a corner on moving to better eating and something about the NutriBullet appealed to me -- it seemed streamlined to me and practical.

(And no, the NutriBullet will not change my life, I get that... I just want my BBB $ to go toward something that I will use and support change)

Do any of you have experience with or opinions on the NutriBullet?

A friend of mine has one. Her verdict is that it is a blender, plain and simple. It is not as powerful as her blender, so it really can only make smoothies. It makes one serving at a time, which may or may not work for you. But she ends up just using her blender to make smoothies.

It would be a good choice if you want the convenience of the single serving cups that it comes with. Just make your smoothie and put the cover on it and go. If you make smoothies every day and would like a travel cup for them, it would work well.

Go to Amazon and read the lower star rating reviews there.

We have one--I should say, DH brought it into the household. I've never used it, and I've not seen him use it. I don't care for smoothies, though. If I did, I'd probably use it.
My therapist told me the way to achieve true inner peace is to finish what I start. So far today, I have finished two bags of M&Ms and a chocolate cake. I feel better already!

I have a less expensive version of the same thing. I got frustrated with it because it's really not powerful enough to move everything around inside the containers to get a smooth blend. Always chunks on top that don't make it down to the blades. It works great for grinding small batches of coffee beans though so I kept it for that. I'm on the lookout for a good strong blender (probably from the early 70's).

I actually use mine. I had a jack lalane ( spelling) blender. Kinda a vita mix knock off, loved it. When it burnt up, probably my fault. I thought why not try the bullet elite off amazon, think about $100. I dump my frozen fruit, soy or yogurt, flax, honey or whatever in almost every morning. Fast and clean. But that is all I use it for, a whole fruit smoothie. I recommend it for only this purpose.
