Not knowing how to defriend or get off FB. They put endless posts I have not asked for and some are against what I believe. And they have put two people as friends, one of whom is someone I've hated for years. Apparently they do it because we have common friends, I don't know but I hate it.

I have an account there just to play bubble games. I allowed a colleague to friend me and had to remove him and all of his friends that ended up on my page, although I think it is called something else.

I just checked, and you can hover over the name of the person and choose to undo the check marks for liking and friending. You can also use the down thing in the upper, right-hand corner of that person's post, but the hovering over the name is easier.

I don't mind FB, and I think it's been a positive experience for the most part. I had one friend (who I love, but who is very strident in her policitical beliefs) that I just got tired of, because of her constant negative, nasty, sarcastic posts. I chose the "block posts" option without defriending her and it's the best of both worlds.

if you want to do more than just de-friend and actually want to get off FB it IS possible. Ok they may keep the data but it is possible to permanently delete a FB account for all intents and purposes, so that you can never log in again, amen. It would probably be best for you to search for this on the web as I can't tell you exactly what instruction is accurate as I think their interface changes a lot. Here are some but it is possible they are obsolete.

But keep trying. You do have to not login for two weeks after you requested the account be permanently deleted for the deletion to be permanent.

I figure with everyone blocking posts and defriending on facebook it's probably just a giant exercise is solipsism at some point anyway (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solipsism) . But maybe that's everywhere. Truthfully I almost never posted when I had an account

I am 52 years old and it still rankles me when my mom makes a comment about my appearance; she really doesn't like my dread locks and I should get rid of them, and why don't I wear some lipstick? Number one, I hate wearing lipstick, I feel like my lips stick out a mile with it on, and two, I am not the kind of female who likes being girly-girly, period! I tried on and off for years to conform and it is just not me! I have never been more happy with my appearance, for the most part, until the last few years ~ I am tall, fit, tan, and have crazy hair that I don't want to deal with anymore, hence the dreads. I don't have the time or desire to please others, I'm too busy living my life and being comfortable about who I am and how I look. This is what I should have said to my mom this morning, instead of shutting down and her accusing me of being defensive. My entire life I think she has found fault with both me (for not being girly enough?) and my sister (for being overweight). I have long struggled with a negative self image and when she says stuff like that it can still raise my hackles!

SiouzQ - I had the same issues with my Mom (probably most of us do to some level). We had some rows in our time. Not so much over how I looked or dressed, but more over the (in her opinion) wrong choices I made in life career-wise and lifestyle-wise. I didn't fit her old world image of what a female should be and aspire to in life. She's passed on now but never really ever accepted or respected or understood my choices, although she came to a somewhat begrudging peaceful decision to let most of it go once she realized I probably would never change. That's not much but it's better then nothing and it can make life together much easier. But being true to yourself, no matter who it upsets, is the only way to find happiness IMHO. So rock those Dreads SiouzQ - no matter what Mom thinks!

I am, Spartana! On Friday I am going in for a dread refresher ~ they unraveled a bit when I was on my road trip out to New Mexico and Utah earlier this summer (more on that sometime.! The perfect hairstyle for living out of one's car and in a tent for sixteen days!
