I absolutely RECOIL from horror, scary. Will not do it at all.
I had a babysitter in late seventies that watched Carrie when it first aired on television -Scarred & Scared me for life!

I can't even hardly do suspenseful movies very well... the last scary thing (not even a horror movie) I watched was Seven at the movie theater in 1995 and most of it I had my head buried in my now husband's armpit (also scary :P)

I LOVEEEEE horror - horror movies, horror novels, horror short stories, real horror stories, fake horror stories, horror TV shows. Tonight is the season (10th!) premium of Supernatural (about the only TV show I actually watch regularly). I like the horror and the humor - all wrapped up in some nice eye candy for us ladies :-)!

PS Loved Seven myself. Not horror of course but a psychological crime thriller - which I also love. Also a bit of eye candy with Brad Pitt :-)!

Haunted houses don't do anything for me. I used to bring dinner down to LEO family that was working off duty at a haunted house. They had me go through once, and a few of them got peeved that they couldn't scare me.
The one movie that I would say is a scarey one, is The Changling with George C Scott. A little too close to reality (people could kill their children).

Spartana, two scary novels you would enjoy might be Richard Adams The Girl in a Swing and Anne River Siddons The House Next Door. Both psychological horror, not "I Know What You Did Last Summer" horror.

Thanks for the recommendation. They both sound familiar so maybe I've read them already. Just finished re-read "The Lovely Bones" and may rent the movie again - sad and beautiful at the same time. Also renting "Mama" for the BF tonight. I've seen it myself but enjoy watching a grown man cringe in terror :-)!

Yeah, I remember being a kid and not getting real scared even then at haunted houses. The movie Seven was one of the best at startling me, when Sloth isn't dead....but the best scary movie IMO was 28 Days Later. Great mix of gore, startle and psychogical factors, with the only criticism being the liberties taken with what is biologically possible. In light of Ebola...even more creepy.

oh yeah - 28 Days & the follow up, 28 Days Later - that was a good one. Being a Zombie Apocalypse fan I always love those. The Walking Dead just started playing on my local network TV (I don't have cable) so will be watching that. I thought the ending of Seven was the best part - although I did like Gluttony a lot (I'm saying that as I eat a huge bowl of ice cream :-)!).
