Close talkers. I can't back up far enough away from them.

Tradd - I saw the headlines and was wondering what was going on. Do you see a resolution soon?

Nope. It's only going to get worse before it gets better. Either the employers are going to lock the union out of the port or the union will go on strike. Not sure which.

I'm having a very grouchy day. My pet peeve today is the tone of the reality tv my husband has fallen in love with, which seems to consist of ordinary people doing ordinary jobs and then making 10x as much money by having a tv show about them. Some of the endless drek might just barely be interesting, but do we really need the overblown soundtrack and DRAMA! about questions like, "how will this fish tank ever fit through this doorway?!" "The known universe will probably collapse if we don't get this shipment of miniature alpacas to Nowhere Interesting by 5 pm tonight!" "Stay tuned to find out whether we sold more duck calls than last year!" "Up next: Was There Something In The Plastic Tote Other Than Christmas Decorations?? BAMP-BAMP-BAMP .... (no.)" Even when I'm intentionally ignoring the tv, I feel like I'm drowning in stupidity dressed up as information I might actually be able to use for something.

Yesterday we were inundated with "Winter Storm Warnings", forecasting snowfall beginning at 6am this morning continuing for 24 hours with high temps in the single digits. I spent the day chopping firewood just in case we lost power during such a cold snap. After a long day of physical activity, my wife stepped into the shower last night and discovered that we had no hot water. I went into Mr Fixit mode and finally surmised that the water heater's thermo couple had gone bad. I pulled out the burner, removed the bad thermo couple and only then began to wonder where I could find a replacement at 9pm on a Sunday night. The answer was 'no-where'. Dammit!!

On the bright side, I completed the repair as soon as I returned home today and water is heating as I type. I'll really appreciate a long, hot shower tonight.

Fiberglass splinter in my finger that is getting kind of nasty. Tried duct tape, soaking in Epsom salts, soaking in vinegar. Now I've got this creeping blue bump, like a marble under my finger. yuck.

I'll tell you what--today, some creepy old dude with long greasy gray hair was in the groc store--doing the bread-squeezing thing. It was loaves of bread--all the same kind, same brand, and he took three of them out, one at a time, and gave them a squeezing with both hands, put them back, then took a 4th loaf and put it in his cart. These kind of people need to be smacked & verbally abused for that kind of stuff. Well, don't they? Filthy bread squeezers!

our landline is crackling and producing bad audio. It's been that way off and on since early January. Several times AT & T has been here to "fix" it. It's tied to U-verse that we installed last summer.

Today the technician was here from 8:15 AM until 2:30 PM. I have a landline because I like the clear, reliable signal. Time to re-think that one.

Seriously, who has time to sit at home all of these hours for a technician to "fix" the damned technology? DH was around today, so I stuck him with that job.
