Indeed. I had a suspicion or two before this news broke. I think a lot (all?) of rabid gay-haters fall into this category.

We need to create a worldwide culture where being LGTBQQIA is totally acceptable.
Knowing thine enemy and acknowledging that they are not just intolerant of LGBT....LMNOP......QRSTUVWXY and Z............but that they believe it is a criminal offense punishable by death. That might be a good start.
LGBTQQIA actually stand for real people's orientations. Have some respect.
