Very glad to hear that!![]()
An action figure of Tradd is needed. It would come with tiny accessories: 2 guns, dive suit and scuba gear, church lady hat and printed music.
I've decided no Florida trip this winter, even for a weekend. Simply not in the budget, plus I have a severe aversion to flying out of O'Hare in the winter. Flights get cancelled waaayyy too often.
No Lake Huron diving trip next summer either. I'll be spending about $3K on the Little Cayman trip. I'll take a few of the Lake Michigan trips out of Hammond, IN on the boat my dive shop runs. That way I'll get some experience diving off a boat, which is what we'll be doing on the Cayman trip.
I'm going to get in the pool as much as I can over the winter. I discovered another dive shop in the area has an indoor pool. You can dive in the pool for $10/hour, including tank rental. I'm going to see if my local dive buddy is interested in that, even though it will be a 90 minute drive for him.
Will attempt a quarry trip or two over the next few months. Both the Ohio quarry and Mermet in southern IL are open year round. Yes, I will dive in cold water. That's what the drysuit is for.![]()

I've canceled the Little Cayman trip for a variety of reasons. Let's just say my friend expected me to do things I wasn't comfortable with in diving and still expected us to be buddied up, even though she needs someone much more experienced.
Trip would have run $3K or so. I now have the $$ for the Alpena, MI/Lake Huron trip I REALLY want to take.
HI Tradd, haven't been here in a long time, but just came back and read your thread about your adventures with diving...you are so inspiring! You really got it all down so quickly and were on you way...so great!
Thank you! Well, not really got it all so quickly! I still have some issues getting comfortable in the water. Closed out the season at our local quarry on Sunday. I was holding hands with my dive buddy, but only because viz was so bad (about 5 feet). No tight grip, though, so that's an improvement!
I hope you get to warm water dive places one of these days, the flora and fauna will be wnderful.
