Wow!! That is beautiful! I may look into rosa's suggestion of statuesque plants. Maybe having 3 similar plants/trees in similar pots would look nice, and I might even be able to hang lights on them

Razz' post reminded me of The Queen of Versailles, the documentary I watched last night. Many of you have seen this, it just took me a while to see it. It's about a very wealthy man and wife who are building the biggest house in America. The house they lived in was huge, thousands of sq feet, but full of cheap Really, really ugly stuff. They need to curate that house! And stop building a new one.

I look forward to "curating" the decor in the house we bought when we move in later this spring. I am very interested in the psychology of how design influences us. Why some houses speak to us and others make us feel bad. Ditto the furnishings. I will be buying a very few new things (sofa) but mostly using what we have that we like a lot. In the meantime, I am perusing thrift stores and craigslist for one of a kind things to fill in the gaps. I found a Colorado made pine cabinet and glass doored hutch for $100 at Goodwill and love the warmth it brings to a room. I think it will set the tone for what I am after.

have you ever explored FengShui? A friend has done this and it made her really think about what was really important to her? It shows too. Very serene decor.

As Cicero said, “Gratitude is not only the greatest of virtues, but the parent of all the others.”
