You know it may be situational or location driven but stray shopping carts are not a problem in our area, people here put them away. I remember in 2006 I went down to Pascagula Mississippi on a relatively long assignment and stopped at a WalMart to pick up a few things and was shocked to see carts left all over the parking lot and surrounding area. I'd just never seen that before.
At our local Aldi's I would guess that maybe 50% of the time quarters are not used to unlock a cart because people in the lot will turn their cart over to new arrivals as they finish loading their cars. Maybe we're just too lazy to walk them back for a quarter but I see it happen and do it myself all the time. Yesterday in fact someone gifted us with their cart and we did the same upon leaving.

When I lived in Florida Xtra supermarkets also used the quarter system.
irl and on several Web sites, I see this behavior expressed as an effort to "pay it forward" much more often than as being too lazy to return the cart. I'll also note that, at least at our urban Aldi locations, the parking lots are small enough that losing a space to an errant cart is almost an "up yours" to other customers so positive social behavior calls for bringing the cart back to the corral even if the quarter is not retrieved.

I have three bags of dried kale snacks. All the real crackers and snacks were gone on that day and i didn't know if i would be able to leave the apt to shop for amonth or two, so, kale package in hand is .worth more than nothing. I did have 6 packs but anxiety-snacked them down to thre. I will eat them before the end of summer. #2020goals
Yes, we did a lot of anxiety snacking ourselves. Dog treats are long gone, and the quarantine pantry is all gone except for one bottle of valerian and 4 boxes of rice a roni which husband decided wisely is too salty to go into the dog food. It was the only rice available during the pandemic.
If it's too salty for the dogs it is probably too salty for us.
Wow Tiranda, kale snacks sound healthy but not very yummy!
In my attempts to stay busy at home, I did a pantry and freezer inventory this morning. I guess I will pull together some menus using all this stuff. We have a 40th anniversary coming up and have decided to cook a splurgy meal at home instead of eating out as usual. So there will be some shopping for that with some disagreements on what it should be.

I guess disagreement with successful resolution is how you make it to 40 years. Hope you come up with a wonderful meal plan!
