I guess I am back to ignoring the ice skating world again except for ice dancing, that I can watch. They don’t jump, it is all about artistry.

I've long preferred ice dancing for the costumes, choreography, and skill. I find figures very boring.

Mild temperatures today - no scraping ice off the windshield, no temperatures in the single digits so even when I blast the heat in the car I need to wear my insulated winter jacket, no heavy boots but instead sneakers. This is a nice foretaste of spring.

My new 5 dollar watch--I bought two watches on Ebay for parts, looking for a crown for one of Helbros watches, and the listing said these were part watches and not working. So I paid 9.50 for two watches and shipping. I wound them up and they both work beautifully--maybe she did not know these were mechanical watches?

This is the Pesag, which is a Swiss watchmaker, now gone, after polishing to remove tarnish. Even the band is nice.

My new 5 dollar watch--I bought two watches on Ebay for parts, looking for a crown for one of Helbros watches, and the listing said these were part watches and not working. So I paid 9.50 for two watches and shipping. I wound them up and they both work beautifully--maybe she did not know these were mechanical watches?

This is the Pesag, which is a Swiss watchmaker, now gone, after polishing to remove tarnish. Even the band is nice.

oh, nice! I wear a big honkin’ Timex men’s watch with a fabric band. I need a fabric band because I wear it daily and through the night and it get sweaty and dirty. These bands are easy to wash.

I often think I would like to have a nice quality watch, a pretty vintage one like this, but they are almost always bracelet styles,right? I can’t wear a bracelet watch, it’s too distracting as it shifts up and down my arm. I think it would also irritate my skin wearing it while I’m gardening and sweating and getting dirty.

I can’t wear a bracelet watch, it’s too distracting as it shifts up and down my arm. I think it would also irritate my skin wearing it while I’m gardening and sweating and getting dirty.

This is an expansion band, rather than a true bracelet watch. So it fits snugly and does not shift up and down your arm. Stainless steel might work for you--I just bought one today for the Helbros and it said to wash it with soap and water at least once a month. A lot of nurses wear the expansion bands because you can get the band wet and soapy and slide it up your arm to wash your hands.

Women's watches are really cheap right now--apparently the resale values are very low, as in non-existent, so it might be worth a try. I like the Swiss ones that are less popular names. I am a huge fan of Tissot, and this new Pesag is cool, and Bucherer is a cool less known brand.

Beautiful watch, Tybee, and great deal! Those kinds of watches are so classic. I have saved my mother's and MIL's watches. In fact, I wore the watch my mother had been wearing up until her death. It wasn't a mechanical watch, but it was still "vintage." The battery ran for years--far longer than it should have, and it always reminded me that my mother's spirit was still with me.

I don't wear old watches anymore. I'm too addicted to the ease and accuracy of digital watches, and as I've said before, I'm not a jewelry person. If I won a million dollars and started a list of what I wanted to do with that million, there wouldn't be any jewelry on that last.

My DD is different, and I'm happy about that, because I have someone to give my MIL's jewelry to. She worked in the jewelry department in Macy's for years, and picked up some very nice pieces. I don't deserve them as I don't value them, but my DD does.

How awesome is it that your DD can inherit her grandmother's jewelry!! I think of her Corelle wear blue and white china and can totally see her with a vintage watch. She has classic taste.
