Very Important Subjects

Okay---I ain't watched tEE-vEE or mOO-vEEs in a long time. I outgrew it. Plus, it has been subjected to "Progress". I have my own reality, to entertain myself, anyway. There's still books, good books, IF you have the time and literacy. My preferred media is You-tube;mainly for music and tech tutorials and interviews with experts and prominent people. For me(and others) it has superceeded(and surpassed)tEE-vEE and mOO-vEEs, leaving the core audience of those particular media behind. I'd make some of you kids mad if I stereotyped the consumers of those media, so I won't, except to say that: 1)in its day, Radio was king. Now it's not. 2) Do you wonder why so many "Stars" today are members of that horribly oppressed my-nority group? Because that's also the core audience of tEE-vEE and mOO-v-EEs! Yup. Even the Anglo Texas polio victim I was reading about the other day, who has spent over 60 years in an Iron Lung, says he hasn't got time or the desire to watch tEE-vEE; He has attained a Law Degree and written numerous books and much correspondence, instead. I don't watch TV, but it's easy enough to fritter time away on the internet. I've been on a mission to catch up on my reading this year, so spending a little less time online.

Yup. I have two books partly read, and the floor in my utility trailer needs repair, among other things. I have the lumber in my stack of salvaged culled boards. Was working on it yesterday; the tarps were blown off and it all sat out in a rain storm. Oh, well. One of the books is about the double calamities at Fairchild,AFB., back in 1994. You kids should all read this book("Warnings Unheeded"), and then start a thread analyzing not what went wrong, but WHY? There seemed to be a strong dynamic of dysfunctional organizational behavior. I lived in Spokane, near Fairchild AFB., as a boy, and have discussed this incident and other Spokane incidents by aggrieved people, with a friend who also moved there about the same time, and subsequently left. My theory is that--like inbreeding, communities in remote areas--even large ones--develop a culture that is self-perpetuating and sometimes very destructive. Hope that helps you some. Thank mee. Okay----'nother thing you kids should know, but prolly don't, is that I-wah is home to the ACT college entrance exam. U of I, does not only Football, but the ACT & ITEDS. Ha. Isn't that ahhh-summm and a-may-zeeen? Ha. Yup. Funny thing is, IIRC, there were hardly ANY questions on the exam about The Basics: Corn, Hogs, Soybeans, Hogs, Cattle, Hogs, Layer Hens, Hogs, Land Prices, Bacon, Girls Basketball, Big Ten Football(w/14 teams), Hogs, Monster Pickups and Crossover SUVs, and last but not least: Hogs. Yup. Those are THE things that matter to I-wah People! You bet. See? So, why wouldn't a student with a good working knowledge of those subjects and thus, a high ACT score, predict success? Makes me wonder. Ha. Gotcha. Yup.

Okay---Some misc. observations about mixed subjects. Anyway---any further discussion of the oscar-awards-event the other night is a waste, but I'll sum it all upby saying---consider the source of the controversy AND that it's likely it was "staged" by the two involved, even if it wasn't scripted. Yup. Would not surprise me. Look at the attention it is getting. But, let it go & be a lesson to you that Tee-vee and mooo-veees by hollyweird are waaay past their golden age, and that they appeal to people mainly to the left of the Bell Curve, if you get my drift. See? Okay--I did listen to you tube vids of live performances of The Grateful Dead, which gave me a better perspective. See---they make psychedelic music! Duh. . It is mood music, and not heavy on melody. Just riffs. What little of their music that got Radio Broadcast airplay contained vocals, a catchy melody, and wasn't a representation of their style. That's why, though the band is highly successful, it isn't because of broadcast media. Recordings--long play albums for discerning hippies-- and concerts are their forte. Okay---Don't put two and two together, and come up with the sum of 22. Not on your ACT exam, or anything else. See? But, what I did was note that one of the soloists on the Capital Childrens' Choir was of high school age, at the time of the recording at Abbey Road, and they gave her due credit for her solo. She does not look English; I guessed Spanish, Portuguese, maybe??? Well, I followed upon it with my internet "dig", and it turns out she was attending The American School in London, where tuition is unthinkably high-priced. She has since graduated, and her online resume indicates she has now attended 4 years at Hahhhh-Vaaad, near Bahhh-stun. See? That, plus other resume-building activities makes me believe she's prolly a devout demmacrat, as well. Her ancestry? Weeeel, the last name is Eastern European, but unless she just had a nice tan in High School, she looks like the Iberian girl next door. Who knows. Anyway, she appears to have family members in the USA & the UK. She has an F-book account, with over 1,000 followers. Yup. Hope that helps you some.

Okay---I'm not going on a lengthy rant about egg-checking and egg-checkers, even though I should. Yup. But, I was sitting-n-watching a video dealing with the subject of Russian Supermarkets, and whether the shelves are bare, as is fabled in popular American Lore. So, they had this guy wheeling a grocerycart around, picking out items, and yes--somethimes the shelves had items out-of-stock. But, they explained--the narrator/cameralady---that yah,it had been a busy day and yes, shoppers had cleaned off the supplyof certain items. Certainly,it did not look any worse than a Wal-Mart. Ha. But--I caught the shopper in the act of "egg-checking", and you'd think that in a Socialist Society, such a person would be arrested and held accountable. Either the firing squad, or 50 years in the lead mines somewhere east of the Urals, 2022-03-30 (3).jpgas penance. Yup. Thankk Mee. Can't you tell that I'm tee-vee educated?

I remember his funeral, and still have the stuff the secret service provided my family that worked in the funeral home (my first memory). We were neighbors with his cousin, and have several more connections (but he was very local).
Although I do wonder if this was as much a reference to politicians, as it was to people like his old Pendergast connections.
Still hoping someday they open the kill room for visitation in his old hotel haunt.
