For quite a while now, I have wanted to stop drinking alcohol of any kind. I was a very moderate drinker for years but just wanted to be out from under the habit. Ironically, it was a lingering tummy issue that led me to give it up. Another plus is that I have lost some weight by not having weekend wine/beer and snacks. It feels very liberating and I don't miss it at all.

Good for you pinkytoe. I am basically there too - maybe if I go to an event in the future I will have a glass of something but I don't buy any. The latest studies show cancers risks and that the supposed benefit of moderate drinking was a myth.

Pinkytoe, my husband has been tracking his sleep statistics and having alcohol in the evening, even if early, affects his deep sleep. He has months of data to support this. Just another thought. He gets the same number of hours but his deep sleep is affected.

Sigh. I miss my wine drinking days.

i now have a glass of wine about every two weeks. I may not continue this forever, but since I am watching calories and would rather eat than drink, it will be low alcohol consumption for me for a while longer. Snd no, I don’t notice any life improvement, just the opposite really!

Having quit smoking, no recreational drugs, etc. my wine is my vice of choice and I enjoy it. I only have a couple of glasses during the course of the weekend, though, as I won't drink alcohol during the work week.

I bought a bottle of brandy in March of 2020, at the start of the pandemic. I still have about 2/3 of it. Fortunately, booze has a long shelf life.

I quit drinking 2 years ago and it really helped with weight loss. My sleep is much better and I feel better in general.

Another benefit of zero alcohol that I can't quite describe is that I seem to be thinking more clearly. I am noticeably more focused on whatever I am doing. I did make a substitute though - one really spicy ginger beer soda a week
