Thread: Adventures in grocery shopping

People are getting desperate. For the first time ever I saw a uniformed police officer patrolling the supermarket aisles.

Deli prices appear to have not gone up as much so I got some things from there. My guess is they buy their ingredients in bulk.

Nothing out of stock, but every week now prices are significantly higher than the week before. I'm surpised no one has put up one of those stickers of Joe Biden pointing and saying, "I did that."

Grocery shopping today. The store had some really good coupons on specific items - Skippy peanut butter, grape tomatoes, Starkist tuna "snack pack" all for .25 each. Then some good deals on corn on the cob, asparagus, ketchup, and cat litter. So, while there were not big meat or other purchases, for the first time in several months, my bill was under $60!

The boss is starting to have trouble finding ingredients for the cookouts we do for customers in the summer. He will have to go to several stores and/or make substitutions.

Forgot to add - one thing I noticed missing was bottled lemon juice! They had some of the little squeeze things, but none of the larger/regular size bottles. Just struck me as weird.

I'm shocked at $6.49 for butter.

We still stop by our favorite little Kroger and love their discounts due to close best buy dates. Found a package of butternut squash noodles for less than $2, extra lean ground turkey for $2.19 a pound, all kinds of spaghetti sauce for half price (cleaning out their shelves), and a Giardelli chocolate bar for $1.09. It is the kind of store where you could do well shopping every couple of days to take advantage of the fresh food discounts. We buy butter when on discount and freeze it.

Yes. We shut down schools because they weren't essential while keeping the liquor stores and pot shops open. So illiteracy wasn't a priority.
