I'm not going to drive things 20 miles each way to recycle, and I'm not going to feel guilty about that.

Yes, that would be silly. I have used cardboard topped with mulch as a replacement for plastic weed barrier fabric in the yard and garden, and also topped with mulch in a few places to kill lawn grass that I've replaced. Unfortunately, I get more cardboard than can be used that way.

I finally figured out (after quite a bit of time) how to do the online chat so was able to have the credit put back on my card.Yay!! They don't make it as easy though like it used to be.

I've actually found their return policy to be terrific, better than the store would be--I just ordered eye makeup remover pads from Almay that lit my eyes on fire, and they are taking them back without any fuss. I've returned books, items with flaws, and things that turned out not to be like what the picture said. I always have it put back on the credit card.

I have a feeling the amazon counter at Kohl's where I took the return did something to initially make it a gift card instead. Oh well...

I rarely buy anything from Amazon. Although right before I left on vacation I realized I needed a rain jacket in a hurry and got one through them.

One advantage of Amazon (I know but ...) is they don't send you junk mail. I've ordered from independent retailers. But then with some of them, if you so much as order one thing you get junk mail from them for all eternity. I think such retailers would in theory prefer we shop from them than Amazon. In reality they make it pretty putative to do so, with all the junk mail.

Interesting. It had never occurred to me before but you are absolutely right. I've never gotten a piece of junkmail, physical or electronic, from Amazon. I suppose when you are as dominant as them you just don't need to.

jp1, I just told a local charity (that wanted my money) if they sent me more than one piece of junk mail, they would get nothing. Told this to the director of fundraising so hope she listens.

We got 11 letters from Wounded Warriors in about 3 months. I have never donated but know they must have bought the list from someone.
