Yes, IL, cats and dogs are so interesting together. My sister’s long ago cats were not pleased when they all moved in with my sister’s fiancé and dog (half rott/half shepherd). She was very protective but also very sweet once you were part of the pack. Every time I went to visit she’d be so excited she would run and get her favorite toy and as soon as I sat down she would plop it in my lap. She was too barky and big for the cats so one of them established a ‘three foot rule’ lashing out at her anytime she got closer to any of them. It took about a month but eventually she grudgingly accepted that she wasn’t going to get to be friends with any of them. Years later, when she died, the cat that established the 3 foot rule mourned her for a good amount of time, going to all her favorite spots and sniffing for her and then settling in to chill in them. (Or who knows, maybe he was thrilled that she was finally gone and was re-establishing cat-scent in those spots to finally rid the house of her altogether…)

I don’t think my bulldog has lived with cats before because when William started head butting in affection to the dog, my dog backed up In fear with a look on his face as if saying that was the weirdest thing he’s ever seen. And then the other day when the cat was rubbing all against him, our bulldog backed up then too, thinking that was a very weird thing to do.

I bet he'll be up to speed in interspecies displays of affection in no time--it sounds like a match made in heaven to me.

Police chases are often ill-considered. Innocent parties and/or their property can be affected. IMO, they should only be done when the fleeing party represents a real danger to the public, not when they have an expired license or an outstanding fine or something.
