One of the regularly scheduled DOJ leaks to the NY Times reported that "department officials are not expected to file charges imminently, if ever...", which makes this look more and more like the DOJ stepping in to settle a National Archives dispute. The nuclear secrets thing seems to have either been a false flag or clickbait, not sure which, and the Presidential Records Act may put a real damper on any possibility of a criminal outcome. Not to mention the political fallout associated with treating this dispute differently than previous ones.

To me, this whole thing seems like a perfect storm of associated interests, an attempt to tar all republicans for political purposes, an attempt to tar all democrats for over-reach, a ratings slump fix for cable news and an opportunity for everyday people to focus their rage on their preferred villian.

    I hate being manipulated, YMMV.

If charges are never filed, the criminal was right. He could kill someone and get away with it. He is above the law. Imagine what would happen if he were elected again? He would run even more rampant. He needs to be put down.

I still don't understand why Trump had top secret documents in his home, needless to say his desk. And after a couple of fairly serious requests he apparently ignored. Parts of this seem illegal and along the same vain as "lock her up", but more critical and blatant.

Yesterday afternoon I was weeding my community garden bed in the city when I heard shots coming from the Projects a block away. It was a little worrisome because it was two “pop pop” shots, not the spray of gunfire that happens when the brothers are randomly shooting at each other. I thought to myself, that sounds like purposeful shooting.

When I drove away there were 6+ police cars there with caution tape surrounding an area. When I googled “shooting in Clinton Peabody” I couldn’t find any report yesterday or today, but it will come out eventually. What does come out in that googling is all of the shootings at Clinton Peabody. This demonstrates why my ZIP Code and even closer, the two block radius of my former home, is in the 1% worldwide of homicides per capita.

    Yay, us.
This is all federally funded, federally run housing so I’m glad we all are paying for it.

You should probably be glad they do, or some of the miscreants might be living in your garden beds, as they do in Seattle and Portland.

Spent half an afternoon watching a discussion between Helen Lewis and Jordan Peterson, reason unknown, since I dislike debates, and also don't enjoy Peterson's vocabulary and how he sets himself.

By the end, a thought came to my head: Almost 60 million human beings watched two individuals battle in arguments to defend genders and theories, of those 60 millions probably 1 million understood what they were saying, nonetheless all of them will memorize these arguments to build and ideology they believe they should follow.

I've seen a bit of Jordan Peterson--enough to recognize that he has little to offer me, and that his personality rubbed me strongly the wrong way (his philosophy aside). Then I watched him talk about his experience with carnivory, in which he related how his depression lifted as a result, and I realized I had been responding to his depressive personality.

It is hard for me to separate Peterson from his talks. It is true he has had some huge problems with mental illness and he talks openly about that.

He has, or has had in that past anyway, some ok things to say I just wish there was a different promenant mouthpiece for those things.
