My husband and I have avoided it too, using masks when out and fully vaccinated. We have declined invitations knowing people coming were not vaccinated and unmasked to boot.
I have avoided covid, but have had bronchitis and right now a sinus infection working it's way down my throat. (Very depressed as I will not be joining family for Christmas today).
