By pure coincidence, I went to a training class a couple weeks ago to become certified to work at a marine observatory right near there. That is likely not "red tide" or a spill, and is very likely to be Noctiluca scintillans, a harmless, very colorful dinoflagellate. Last night, a bit after midnight, the Northern Lights popped out.
View from my deck, looking north towards Vancouver BC.
Those northern lights are stunning as background for the dark trees. how beautiful!

Bae this latest set of Photos reminds me so much of the work of artist/illustrator Eyvind Earle. Many of his subjects were black trees in the forefront of highly colored evening backgrounds.
