Okay---TYVM, Catherine. The piece from SNL pretty much sums it up. Chickins, are pretty nice little creatures. No need to torture them.

Okay---Mondy Brunch. Crunchy Granola Raisin Bran, and a Banana, ripened the zact amount. But yeah--no chickkins were harmed. Hope that helps you some.

I used peaches from our tree and local blueberries to make a little dessert. A cookie concoction with a bit of sugar piled onto crescent rolls. It wasn’t bad.

DH made a yummy oatmeal crisp with strawberries and rhubarb from the neighbor's garden.

Tomorrow we have a few friends coming over for the holiday. So has got it in his head that we should serve an appetizer of poke’ since we’ve really become fans of the $6.99 box of poke’ cubes they sell at Safeway. But now a new twist. He’s been testing recipes for rice waffles today with plans of serving the poke’ on them instead of plain rice. I think his third try is a winner so hopefully our friends won’t leave and get in the car asking each other ‘WTF was that…’.

OK, jp, we need to hear how it goes tomorrow!

It’s been so hot and humid here I’ve not felt like cooking at all. Dinner has been two pouches of tuna made into tuna salad with the addition of a bit of Miracle Whip and pickle relish. Found some whole grain organic cracker that are fabulous. That makes a very satisfying dinner.

The rice waffles were super fun! Imagine a somewhat crispy waffle that tastes like fried rice with tamari and scallions. Definitely made the poke' more interesting than just plain rice like we usually do. And our friends really liked it since it was new and interesting. The interesting bit is that SO and I had both all of a sudden had multiple random posts about the idea on facebook in our feeds. None of the recipes called for an egg, which proved crucial to getting the waffles to not completely fall apart. This will definitely be a keeper in my mental recipe file of easy dinner ideas.

Tonight SO has bowling league so I'm making myself a bean burrito with chipotle peppers. (SO hates beans so this is my one night/week to eat them.)

Japanese curry chicken with onions and garlic over ramen noodles. A nice change.

Chicken, peas and noodles in chicken broth.
