okay----up in that littlebitty town waaaaay up in the middle-o-nowhere, they usta have a company that built homes at their shop, that could be moved and set on a foundation, with a basement in some cases. Many of the homes were built in sections, and joined to other sections on site. It was a very efficient way to expand the housing stock, out in the middle o' nowhere. But see---all of that, and just about ANY manufacturing not related to agribusiness, has fallen by the wayside, in the last several decades. It's all: beans & corn and cattle and hogs and poultry, and the hardware needed to produce it. Mobile homes are not commonplace there, anymore, either in parks or on separate lots. See? I'd go into one of my conspiracy theories, but that belongs in Public Policy, and of course--unless it is a mainstream theory on Big Media, you kids'd completely dismiss it, no ands ifs or buts. But anyway---the roads and the terrain were very suited to moving these prefab homes, which would not be the case, here. Stuff that is a good innovation might be a fail, not because it is inefficient or uneconomical, but because of changing demographics and population shifts due to public policies made behind the scenes. See? Hope that helps you some. Edited to add: The company that build the modular homes is still in business, thought they closed their operation in central IWAH. But yeah---they are based in wah-SKonsun, and have 7 or 8 other shops still in operation, in small towns near cities. This gives them a logistical advantage, and a substantial customer base. Hope that helps you some.
