I'd love a landscaper's plan and someone to do the actual labor! But my budget runs more to free plants and my stamina to little digging... and my yard looks like it, sadly. IL, I'm sure your yard is lovely! Which reminds me - I have one yard-sale hosta still languishing in a pot behind the shed. I really need to go stick it in the ground before it freezes. Has anyone overwintered hostas somewhere indoors??

My notable accomplishment today was getting DH out of the house and to the classes we're signed up for at the local Y. I've been going, he's been avoiding, lol. But today he went, and seemed to enjoy it, so maybe he'll start attending more regularly.

Actually our front yard isn’t lovely it looks like crap!

We are on garden tour next June and will be hanging a sign in the front of our house that says “work in progress…”

if I were going to overwinter a hosta, I’d put it in a pot and put it in my garage where there’s no super hard freeze but it’s cold enough to let it go dormant. That’s what we do with Lilies in pots.

I have grown hostas in outdoor pots for several years, not exactly purposefully, but they are in those pots and survive during winter so I let them stay.

DH declared cheerfully “today, I’m going to take all the hoses down and wrap them up. “
Ugh!!!!! every year he does this to me. I have $250 worth of Lilies sitting in buckets waiting for the rain to stop and the ground to dry so that I can put them in the ground. I will need to water them in. I need functional hoses.

Every. Damn. Year. he does this to me

Yesterday, I got two more of my immunizations done, and managed to get DH to do 2 also. Now we just need the shingles vac. Have to wait two weeks, so said the pharmacist. Had my semi-annual skin check this morning, will now have to wait on biopsy results.

I got my flu and covid this past Wednesday. Sick Wednesday night and covid arm still sore, but at least the swelling and red band have gone. Prayers on good biopsy results!!!

Feeling pretty proud of myself this morning. We're expecting frost soon so yesterday I harvested all my herbs and filled up the dehydrator. This morning I stripped all of them from the stems and jarred them up.

    Made myself some breakfast.

Then I made a loaf of dill bread which I'm gifting a friend tomorrow.

Got a good deal done on my current stitch project while bread was baking...

All before noon! I like fall weather. It makes me a better homester. 😄

I am devoting time today trying to understand DH's inheritance finances since he is not interested. Cost basis, tax implications, where to move funds etc. Making some headway today and using a different part of my thinker.

I've just spent three years doing this around parents' estates so I have been grappling with the same material. We're not done yet, but hopefully near the end.

Thanks happystuff. Thankfully I've never had a reaction to any vaccines or other shots, just a tad of arm soreness sometimes that's easy to ignore. my mother used to always get big knots and bruising with any sort of shot, and I'm quite grateful that I do not.

Finally got off my duff and started organizing and listing some of the kids Lego sets on Marketplace. Hoping that doing it now with the start of Christmas shopping will generate some sales. But, the point for myself is that I finally started it. LOL

    Today's to-dos:
Finish Christmas shopping for the kids and grandkids so can mail packages
Put up one string of lights on my fence
Finish getting seeds out of the Cinderella pumpkin that was the fall decoration on the front stoop so I can plant them next year
