We're going to just see actual price increases in the next month or two. Retailers and other companies front loaded by bringing in extra inventory. It's a matter of how long that lasts. Imports from China are of course more affected than stuff from other countries. There was also an in transit exemption for shipments that departed from origin BEFORE the reciprocals went into effect. The last of those shipments are now arriving or have arrived.

    oh yuck! That is bad.

this reminds me of something I’m happy about: where I live, we can sit on the ground. We don’t have fire ants. Oh certain places have chiggers, but I don’t run into that where I live. Sitting on the grass is lovely. I was talking to someone about weeding our Iris beds and I said hey anymore I just sit on the ground and weed, but she can’t sit because the fire ants attack her

Gosh, those are awful!! We have experienced them in other places in Vermont, but luckily not where we are. We do have other annoying insects, though. Mayflies, for instance. One year we had so many frogs it was like an Egyptian plague.

My cup runneth over with humans.

Duringthe last week of April, I went on a 6 day roadtrip that included a bunch of interaction with fellow humans. Then, I came home to be obligated to attend a two day convention. I skipped the part of riding in a bus with 50 people to visit Iris Gardens because I could not face being with that many people and no place to escape. Then I went to the dinner that night because it was a meeting where I had to take notes, as the secretary. So no sooner was that over, then a few days later I chaired a two day Iris show. Lots and lots and lots of interaction with – you got it, humans.

At one point during the Iris show, I went out into the hall and just sat down to get away from all the noise and chaos and the humans.

In 24 hours I’m chairing another Iris show which will involve humans of course. As well as Iris. From there I have a rest from humans for about two weeks before I plunge into June flower shows, garden tours, and road trips that end with seeing humans.

You know, I like you humans well enough, but it’s a little bit too much at the moment.

I actually enjoyed Covid times quite a lot. Those times were not very people-y.
