Most older computers will run perfectly fine with Linux. Newer computers need more memory, storage and processing power because Windows 11 demands it, Apple as well.

I have a mini Z8350 (Atom quad core from 2016 that people claim is awful) that I loaded the latest version of Peppermint OS on and it does basic desktop computing just fine. Of course older machines will not handle modern graphical games or intense video editing. I use a low power Intel gen 10 quad core mini pc for daily use, and an Intel gen 9 dual core on my laptop, both extremely responsive/snappy with various Linux distros. I never use my mini Ryzen 5 Pro because I don't game modern titles.

You can pick up an n100 mini pc that is modern and capable for $150 that will run Win11 just fine if that's your thing. Or you could 86 Winblows and install Linux if privacy is important to you...
