    Choosing the right paint color

Have you gone through the process of selecting just the "right" color paint for your walls?? Me, too. Here's a piece I just posted about the selection process and its result on my writing blog:

I'm glad you are loving your yellow room. Choosing paint colors for me has mostly been about getting the right shade of white, which Sherwin Williams' computer program can now do for me with color matching to some incredibly precise degree.

Poor DH. I picked out a bright green and he painted one coat of an entire room. It was awful. So I chose a new green color, a softer one. He cheerfully repainted the entire room. And it looks nice.

It’s true he will once in a while make a smart -Alec comment about choosing paint colors and how “hard that must be “but he’s still good natured about it so I put up with lightly snide comments.

In listening to you IL… you make me grateful my place is done! It was torture decorating. The shortages of covid made it even worse. I’m so thankful to be done!

In my family, I'm known for obsessiing over paint chips. And, yes, rosa, that includes obsessing over the right white. No one in my family gets it except my DD. That's why she gave me this for Mothers Day a few years ago. (I may have posted it already because I think it's so funny). It's sideways but I can't fix it.

Here’s my latest Saga of a periwinkle front door:

*chose and purchased from a sample card a periwinkle color for our front door
*DH painted one coat on dooor
    * Bought canned spray paint for patio set that sits in front of front door
    * I thought canned spray paint and front door paint would match
    * Those two paints DID match, but both are WRONG (too much lilac)
    * Went to Sherwin-Williams store and had their Computer mix up a periwinkle color to match a flower pot of the correct color
    * came home, DH painted one coat on door with new specially concocted paint

    SCORE! It works
