okay---i desperately need you kidses' advice about something. see---i've read two books by Texcess author & academian Gary Lavernge; "A Sniper In The Tower" and "The Bad Boy From Rosebud". But, i only now learned that he aalso wrote "Worse Than Death", as well. Right now, there's a used, hardcover copy of the book, signed by the author, for $18. But yeah--more than I usually pay for a book.
The other two titles i have by the same author are paperbacks. Very well-written. Should I go for the book that's up for sale? Hope you can help me. Edited to add: the book overlaps into the current affairs of this nation, even though the incident the author describes occurred in 1984. But yeah--a illegal alien with an extensive violent criminal background murders 6 people in Dallas. The perp was from north africa. He should not have been allowed to enter the country. nope.

I think it depends on whether you like to collect your books and if the author's signature means something to you. If not, you should probably hold out for a cheaper version, or request through your library. There's a copy for $11.41 on eBay.

Ebay has become my new favorite place for old books. You can find real bargains on not so old books, too! I have to remind myself to look their first, after looking in the cloud library.

I had forgotten what a hero Dean Phillips was in his challenge to Biden for the Democratic nomination. He bucked the entire Democratic Party machine to stand up and give the American people a choice of a candidate who wasn’t ancient. That was one of two political campaigns I contributed to.

And this was before I knew Joe Biden was not competent, I was assuming at the time he was just too old.

I saw no support on this forum for Dean Phillips from those who vote Democratic ticket.

Definitely my go-to for books. I pay an average of $4.00 per book including shipping!

My go-to for books has become the library book sales and those little "free little library" boxes that get put up. There is one just across the street behind the church.

I de-cluttered the Little Free Library in my former neighborhood now and then.

As a former librarian who weeded thousands of books during my jobs, it was rather horrifying, the junk people put in there. I would let junk sit for a while in case my evaluation was wrong, but then I pitched it.

I love the idea of the little free libraries, but rarely find anything worth taking.

I should have said that eBay is my go-to for purchasing books. I borrow most of what I read from the library. If I read a book that is so wonderful I must share with someone else, then I'll buy them a copy on eBay. I'll also occasionally buy a book, usually non-fiction, that I expect will take me a long time to read. I've also set a policy for myself that if I'm in a small, independent bookstore, I will purchase a new book in support of those beloved places. I occasionally buy a book in a thrift shop, although I try to only do so if it's a book on my list.
