    June Frugals!

This is actually an ongoing frugal, although a frugal indulgence if you will. Trader Joe's sells frozen chocolate croissants that are so amazing. They cost $5.00 for a box of four. They need to be defrosted the night before, so I actually have an alarm set for every Saturday night at 7PM to defrost the croissants. That's how seriously we take our chocolate croissants around here! These are excellent bakery-quality croissants for $1.25 each, and we would probably pay about $5.00 each if we got them from a bakery.

Funny, rr - I have a couple boxes of those marvelous croissants in the freezer, and told DD we needed to put them out last night for this morning's breakfast. Then I fell asleep, and they're still in the freezer. We like almond croissants too, but TJ's has yet to provide, and it's too far to a decent patisserie or boulangerie, so we mostly do without, lol.

One of our major ongoing frugals food-wise is hazelnut coffee from Aldi. It's wonderful, and mixes will with other blends or just plain dark roast. We really enjoy flavored coffee (usually purchased on sale) but this stuff is our go-to everyday coffee blend. Add a little cinnamon, or a couple drops of vanilla to the grounds - mmmmm.

Found a senior center within 15 minutes of house that has nice exercise equipment and classes run by qualified fitness instructors for FREE! Best is that DH went with and likes the classes so will go with me!! Plan is to go 3 times per week and continue walking regime, ping pong and occasional pool exercises.

Early: TJ's does make almond ones. Maybe they just don't stock them at your local store. You could always trying requesting them.

Frugal-one: That is a great discovery!

thanks for the tip! I'll see if they'll get some, or let me know if they generally carry them and I've always been unlucky, lol. We only go once or twice a month, it's about 45 miles from us so I like to stack it with other needs in that general direction. I'm advocating for one closer, but it's unlikely. . frugal -one, enjoy your exercise. Silver sneakers provides us with free classes at the local Y and I went for a while, I need to try to get back in that routine. I didn't love it but it was ok, the parking is the main reason I stopped (that and a general dislike of exertion ) and that is being addressed so I'll try to return. DH said he enjoyed it but would almost never go, another mental impediment for me. Not that I don't go places without him, I do. More along the lines of "if he gets to stay home, why can't I?" I really need to work on my self-motivational skills... AND be more frugal!

Early: We have a Trader Joe's right in our town, which is a double-edged sword with the siren's call of croissants, Kringles, dark chocolate-covered pistachios, dark chocolate peanut butter cups . . . On the other hand, those things are all very yummy and well priced, and it's the only place I buy cards (so nice and just $1.00 each!)

Congrats on the new purse. I tend to find that ebay has better prices than amazon, as well as many items with free shipping - without paying for Prime!

When we go to Trader Jo, I try to limit myself to one indulgence. Usually it is one bag of the choc covered peanut butter cups. We pretty much buy the same things since we also only go once every month or two and right now our freezer is too full. We also try to use a rule of "buy one new to us thing" during each trip.

Standards: Quatro Fromagio, Palek Paneer, any frozen chicken dishes, Japanese Fried Rice, pie crust (often out of stock).

Yeah, those dark chocolate peanut butter cups are a favorite. We have too many TJ's standards. Steak & ale pies, lots of the frozen chicken stuff, mushroom ravioli. Cheese! they have lovely bries at nice prices. I find the thai noodles in pouches so handy to have on hand. Currently slathering truffle aioli on all sandwiches (except peanut butter!) We buy all of our staples at Aldi, and everything else pretty much comes from TJs. So envious of those of you who have a local!
