    Thanks, nswef!

Thursday I did two more hours getting ready to have a guest on Friday. Mostly, I just got rid of a lot of paper, but the first floor looks pretty great. New total: 26.

I did another 2 hours today. The recycling bin is now full. I always know I'm making progress in decluttering when I'm looking forward to trash and recycling pick-up day.

    New total: 28.

5 hours on a closet clean-out today with my daughter!

There is only one walk-in closet in our house, and we share it. Over the last couple of years, my daughter has gotten very into thrifting and has also gotten a lot of hand-me-downs from friends and relatives, so things were getting crowded. I was worried she had inherited my hoarding tendencies. She's had a lot of fun trips this summer (school trip to Japan, a week at sleep-away camp) and one still coming up, so I told her today we needed to focus on decluttering. I showed her one episode of Tidying Up with Marie Kondo and then we got to work. She did SO well! I ended up taking 71 items to Goodwill (yes, I counted, because I find it strangely motivating) and that doesn't even count what we threw in the trash because it was too stained or worn-out to donate. We have about a dozen items we still hope to give away on Buy Nothing, but I may take them to Goodwill tomorrow.

She *did* donate some things of hers that I liked, but I just decided she knows best what sparks joy for her, and she still has plenty of clothes. I probably only gave away or threw out about 20 of my own items, but every little bit helps!

    New total: 33.

I've made a big push these last two days before vacation: 2.5 hours yesterday getting rid of a lot of paper and 3 hours today, tidying up the backyard and getting rid of a bunch of flower pots I don't need, then getting rid of a lot of clutter in the house so things will be tidy for our catsitter. I didn't *quite* finish this batch of 40 hours, but I came close!

    New total: 39!

    Belated thanks, Rosa!

I finished this batch of 40 this week by decluttering the dining room table and a few other "hot spots" last Thursday before our monthly housekeeper came.

Thanks, all of you, for your support!
