Saw that eggs were 3.99 dozen at Trader Joe's today. They had a limit of one dozen but have bumped it up to two. My current gritch with groceries is seafood. It seems that Americans are good with eating gross Asian farmed seafood because that is the bulk of what is in the stores now. The price for anything of quality and domestically harvested is out of my price range.

The USDA says nothing has really changed. Maybe it's just some variability in the production system.

Maybe it's plain old supply and demand. Cost was too high, so folks stopped buying (I did!!!), so now maybe lowering price to balance out.

Just got back from weekly shopping trip. I always make a list then go to Aldi's first and Shoprite second. (They are pretty close to each other.)

Anyway, while in Shoprite, I noticed some not-quite-full shelves. Not they they were totally empty, but that there was definitely shelf space and reduced amount of products. Can't remember all of them, but definitely noticed in the instant coffee section.

Anyway, got me thinking that it will probably get worse.

There have been smaller crops on coffee, chocolate, and peaches due to weather issues. Beef prices have increased. The number of cattle in the US is the lowest since sometime in the 1960s. I can't tell you how many people I come across who refuse to believe prices of these commodities are higher due to smaller crops and will only believe that corporate greed is the reason for price increases. And yes, these people seem to be Orange Man fans.

Public radio had a feature on coffee prices since Brazil is a primary supplier and it's now subject to high tariffs. They claim there is not enough supply coming from other countries to make up a loss of Brazilian sales due to high costs and predicted higher prices or shortage.

Don’t break into my house. We have a freezer full of beef and now that DH doesn’t eat it, we are slowly sending it out to friends and family. I mean, I’ll eat some of it but… I don’t need all of this.

okay-----downta the nearby store, they had pizzza on sale for $2 plus change. i know, i know, i know----i hate pizza. but for that price, i can't afford not to buy just one. it sat in the frigerato several days before i m-w'ed it; wasn't too bad. i put a thin layer of spagetti sauce on it and some cheese shreds(not piled HIGH) and those hot pepper sprinkles. Was not bad for the money. The catts had to have some, too. Yup.

I got one a the Aldis boxes off the shelf, it is square, with a partial cutout in the side, and two cats can fit in there and sit. it was free. Also, some other stuff--mint cookies. Yup.
