    August NOT-frugals

I didn't feel right putting this in the "frugals" thread as it isn't. It is necessary - in my opinion, but not frugal.

In preparation for a rather long trip - possibly with the dog - I got a new harness, new leash, and a new hard-shell crate suitable for home and car. I had been trying one of those back seat sling things, but poor Sally tended to slip around so much - even though she was dog-belted and had something else to lay on.

Anyway, there may have been cheaper alternatives/work arounds, but I just wanted it done.

The older I get, the less I want to deal with the hassle and time spent of always searching for the lowest price option.

My NOT frugal was taking my grandkids to McDonald’s to help out their working mom and dad. $38!! Three Egg McMuffins meals. That’s it. I haven’t eaten at McDonald’s in years.

Non frugal bought a new oil painting from the 1920's, a milkmaid herding cows.

Non frugal bought plane tickets, renting a car and staying in a hotel to visit son & gd for a long weekend. Guess it is “blow the dough” time.

These are just normal costs of going out of town.

I just heard a news story on the radio today that fast food restaurants are having a hard time. People are shocked at how their cost of increased so people are going out less often into fast food and are going to sit down lower end, restaurants
