[QUOTE=catherine;451091]I'm sure this is an old lady rant, but have car headlights gotten brighter? Or are people keeping their brights on? Or do DH and I have cataracts? What's the deal? We hate driving at night now... the oncoming traffic seems so much brighter than it used to be. Some cars are fine but others are like prison yard lighting.[/QUOTE

Yep, I think you're right! Some drivers don't dim their headlights for oncoming cars--which we all used to do back in the day...the "brights" can be rather blinding...]
    peaceful, easy feeling

No, the new LEDs *ARE* too bright, plus some people may do stuff to their vehicles that changes the vehicle height the lights were designed for.

Catherine: I believe Tradd is correct, but please tell us more about your experience with prison yard lighting? Inquiring minds want to know!

This isn’t a rant, it’s just sad. Carolyn Kennedy’s daughter is dying of cancer. This is one Kennedy death that can’t be tied to misadventure and recklessness.

It's tragic. I read her piece about her upcoming death in the New Yorker earlier this month. She is a hero in my book, as is her mother, and her mother before her. May her cousin rot in - well, wherever he ends up.

Misadventure, recklessness, and…craziness. Kinda the Kennedy brand.

I just read that Cheryl Hines, RFKJ’s current wife, was Rob Reiner’s personal assistant for decades. That seems to be a quite serious clash of political ideology, although Cheryl comes off as being, well, naïve. Very sweet. Can’t imagine how she ended up with that dude but OK life is weird.

I read that New York piece, and the NYTimes piece on that, and I feared reading it, having had 3 cancer diagnoses in my immediate family in 2025. But it was a truly heartfelt and courageous piece. I have incredible compassion and admiration for her.

Work system was down when I got into the office yesterday. It was down all day - emails, industry specific software, even phones - except for a brief time when we had email. No internet either. I'm on vacation beginning Wednesday and don't come back until the 5th. I have to get as much as I can pre-entered before I leave, so coworkers just have to submit clearances to Customs. There have been tons of issues and I have not been able to get as much time working on the stuff at the office as I wanted. So besides the air freight from Friday I couldn't clear, I have about 20 files to get done for while I'm gone. Office manager told me at the end of the day yesterday that system might not be back up for THREE days. I told her to text me if it comes up over the weekend.

I REALLY hope they don't expect me to work over my vacation. It's been a crap year and I'm really looking forward to just spending all day in bed, communing with my Kindle. Long term coworker was off yesterday. If he has ANY scrap of vacation time yet, even two hours, he takes it. He also whines like a toddler if he's asked to do anything extra. New guy is doing pretty danged good, but he's already taken over most of long term guy's workload. Oh, well, I'll deal with it on Monday.

Arg, Tradd, that sounds awful. Hope they get it up and running soon, sounds beyond frustrating.
