Dropped off an Amazon return Monday. Dropped off ink cartridges and batteries at Staples recycling. Have a large Christmas tree storage bag all bundled up to go to Goodwill, so that's only .5 purged, lol.
I gave away a very large 36 inch high pot that I’ve used in two large flower show installations. But I’m tired of it, and we have a new enthusiastic woman in the flower show group who is in her initial collecting stage.

It is so nice when those of us in the decluttering/divestiture stage can connect with those in the collecting/accumulation stage.
Sister and I went though Mom's bathroom cabinets yesterday. We filled a bag for the trash, but also took away some items to keep or donate. Mom's house has a ton of bathroom storage, and of course it was all totally crammed with stuff at one point. We now have it pruned down to things she actually needs at this point in her life, and things we haven't quite figured out what to do with. For example, the woman has what is probably the largest private collection of tweezers in the country. She has many partially full bottles of her once beloved Zen perfume. The Zen actually has some value on eBay, but might be more trouble than it's worth. Maybe we should start spritzing her with it for her remaining days.
I have noted the fact that Mom's house has loads of storage space, unlike my own house. For example, her bathroom had all the storage beneath a very large double vanity, perhaps 6' long, then another equally long, horizonal medicine cabinet, as well as an adjacent linen closet that is a generous size.
I have no vanity at all, a small, standard medicine cabinet, and no linen closet. We manage to get by just fine with what we have.
Of course I sometimes wish that I had a bit more storage space, but bottom line is that more store space = ability to amass more stuff.
I totally agree. I think there are some who feel that "empty space" needs to be filled - with anything, sometimes! LOL. I've been decluttering this house for over 15 years and STILL have a ways to go before I am happy/comfortable. Also another reason I want a smaller place!Originally Posted by rosarugosa

meanwhile, empty space in my kitchen drawers makes me unreasonably happy.

IL, Happy Stuff and Rosa- Yes, I get it. I love looking in a nearly bare closet...hasn't happened too often lately! Right now I will be content to empty my surfaces nest to the computer...and the dining room table again. Our kitchen table is currently filled with a 1000 piece puzzle in progress. It is fun, so I don't mind that, but I realized how much I use that table to park things.
Right now I am working on files for taxes...grinding my teeth and wishing they would just take 20% and not make us produce reams of paper! Next is Death files...trying to get them set so if we die accounts can be accessed. Not easy when I find myself saying dreadful things every time I sign on to something and have to get the "security code" sent to my phone after I have used my password. This should go in the rant page, but I'm calling it decluttering.
Decluttered two pieces of Valentine's Day decor. Lived with it for about a week and a half and just didn't like it. Also got rid of three bottle brush trees. Much prefer the look of the mantle with less of them on it.
In my continuing saga of Lego organizing/storing/selling, I feel like I kicked butt this past week with the actual organizing part. Have Legos sorted by color and stored in ziplock bags. All the bins and containers they were formerly in went to sibling game night last night. All my crafting siblings took all but 3 bins! Those will probably be used to put donations in at my next donation pickup. I've reclaimed part of my living room again!!! LOL.
