Edited to add: They turned out so much better than I imagined! I surprised myself. LOL

okay----wenta a new restaurant that opened up down the street. it's a fairly new building, and the 3rd restaurant to go in there in prolly 10 years. it's sposta be a Honduran place, and yeah sure it seemed to be, though i thought they'd all be deported by now. But the prices were kinda high, so i ordered a plate o' fried rice and a fanta. Their fanta was bottled in old Mexico, so that is truly authentic. The rice was good, but next time i'll go to that new Asian place i tried last time. Yup.

Falafel patties over mixed green salad with home-made yogurt/lemon/dill sauce. Turned out great--filling and yummy. Trying to eat more whole, plant-based foods these days...the book Blue Zones has influenced me quite a bit...fascinating reporting on longevity and diet...

Kedgeree, made with smoked haddock. No side dishes as the Kedgeree is a complete meal.

    Sounds delicious.

Last night I was going to make a warm lentil and potato salad, but my potatoes had actually frozen in my "cold storage" room--(my mudroom in the winter). That tells you how cold this winter has been up here!!

So I pivoted to a lentil curry. I've never made it before, but it came out great, even according to DH, who usually hates stuff like that. Frankly, I surprised myself, because I'm not familiar with curry spices at all.

Homemade... I went by a recipe, but winged it.. DH wanted to use the can of British curry we have in the pantry, but I also threw in extra cumin, garam masala, and ginger.

You all are going to laugh at me. I dried package, Indian food from “the cumin club “and I’ve had one so far. It’s decent.

I also buy curry paste in little cans: yellow curry, red curry, green curry. I think Green is my favorite, but I like the color that red provides.

I make a pretty decent red coconut curry soup with either chicken or shrimp, and sometimes both.
