    April Purge

I trashed my Letter of Appreciation that I got on Monday when I retired from my job after 31 years. I am so bitter about that place that I wanted nothing from it. It means nothing to me because of how badly I felt that I was treated there. I did save the frame because it was a nice frame and I might need one in the future.

It sounds like you made a great decision, moving along from that job and into your new job!

I did! I was always angry at work because I couldn't take the environment anymore.

Debated for a while about what to do with a certain sweater. I love it but I never wear it because it's a turtleneck and not very comfortable. Today, I decided to just get rid of it. No point keeping it because I think it's a pretty sweater but will never wear it or wear it once every other year.

Sister and I have been diligently rehoming things from Mom's house. Almost all of the clothing has been donated, dropped into the fabric recycling bin, or trashed if badly stained. Sis does the thrift store drop offs and I do the Facebook giveaways. I've given away a clothing rack, a couple of bags of plastic hangers, a large quantity of incontinence products, medications and adaptive equipment. I've also dropped some drugs into the disposal bin at the police station. It's an ongoing project that will occupy us for awhile.

DH said he didn't think most people would take so much time and effort to get things to good homes as we are doing; that throwing things away would be more typical. I feel like we are doing the right thing, and it makes us feel good. Mom would have approved.

Sold another Lego set. Slowly getting these things out of the house! I'm thrilled!

Good job, Happy! Sounds like you had a lot of Legos! I've been amazed to see all the interesting Lego sets that are out there now. I never would have imagined things like Lego plants and bouquets.

It IS amazing! And it is also amazing how much collectors are willing to pay for the older/vintage sets!

my brother texted me about an old gold colored watch he had, with neither of us remembering where it came from. It had the name “Sarah “etched on it so I ventured a guess it was from great grandmother Sarah Mason.

Being the un sentimental bitch I am, I told him “ oh just go sell that thing although it’s probably not worth much “ because I think I already investigated it or one like it decades ago.

    Anyway – – –

Yesterday he texted me that my half of the sale was $1250. Yay! I guess the thing was gold and not just gold plated. I told him to just go ahead and keep my portion, he gets a bonus for initiative.

And then, last week the old Victorian dresser we took the auction house brought $400. I was shocked. I figured we might get $35 for it. These old walnut dressers are very common. The Auction house took a huge chunk of it, and that is fine with me.
