    Oh my catherine. Oh my. It *is* poignant, the items in BIL’s car. The stuff of his life that gave him meaning.So evocative of what he valued.

    He died quietly in his own bed, so that was some grace for him. not everyone gets to do that.

    and what a heavy load you have had with three illnesses in your family. I can’t imagine coping with that.

    Thank you, iris. Yes, he died in his own bed. There certainly is some comfort in that.

    That is such a sad list. I am so glad he was able to end his life with his family, with you guys who loved him so much.

    Catherine: That definitely tugs at the heartstrings. I recall that you folks gave DBIL a lot of assistance over the years though, and you have been dealing with so much, so please don't beat yourself up. I agree that dying in his own bed was a major blessing. I am quite proud of the fact that we enabled Mom to die peacefully in her own bed.
