Yesterday I donated blood and the needle hit the vein at the end so there is a bruise. That’s unusual tho.

I am officially a member of Club Medicare, as of today. I was able to get early Medicare (five months before I actually turn 65) due to being on SSDI for the past 24 months. The thing that sucks is that some rule was changed recently for us early Medicare people; when I actually turn 65 in October I will have to sign up yet again for a Medicare plan because my new BCBS Medicare Advantage Plan does not roll over. So this means that between the BCBS New Mexico plan that started on Jan.1, the plan I am on (as of today), and the plan I will have to sign up for again when I turn 65 in October I will have had to start all over again each time paying up to the out-of-pocket maximum (I hope this makes sense...).

Since K. got laid off last June 30, this is what happened - I was uninsured for one month, then qualified for an ACA plan from August to December 31, 2025, then had a BCBS plan from Jan.1, 2026 to April 30, 2026. Now I have the new BCBS Medicare plan from May 1 to Sept. 30th, then yet another plan from Oct. through December 31, 2026. Gaaaaaaaa!!!!!!

    I am so tickled!

I judged an Iris show yesterday. One of our younger Iris Society members won “Best in Show.” She was shocked and thrilled.

When I chose that stem, I had no idea who the exhibitor was.

I’m so happy and satisfied to be in a position in these plant societies now where I no longer care what I win and how much I win, I’m just thrilled with all the new people coming up in the society who have fun showing their iris and Lilies. I’ll spare everyone details, but I had a direct hand in getting her entries into that show because she had to go through stupid hoops.

When I (along with my fellow judge ) chose that stem, I had no idea who the exhibitor was.

We have another new exhibitor who is a power exhibitor because she brings dozens of stems to a show, and she likes floral design as well! She’s very agile, fast, and dedicated, and she is into winning lots of awards. And— Her Iris farm in Hermann! She sells commercially. She just started it up with the past couple of years so it coincides with us moving to Hermann.

Hermann is a strange little Mecca of plant Society people. The former director of the American Iris Society retired in Hermann to grow lots of iris ( he is now deceased.) Hermann had at one time more Iris Judges per capita than probably anywhere in the United States because there were five of us, and this is a tiny town. The premier grower of daffodils in our state is in Hermann. I suppose this fits with Hermann being a wine producing town where viticulture is a local speciality. there’s also a lavender farm here and a large berry farm and a couple of cut flower farms.

This one was a NJ park - Swartswood State Park. Planning another mega family and friends trip to PA state park towards the end of the year. Want to start hitting some National Parks again soon.

So many parks - so little time!!!
