However it happens (goats become trendy?) I'm with you, wishing fervently for an end to assault by yard tools. Yesterday, some neighborhood bleep ran a chain saw for hours. If I designed Hell, it would be full of chainsaws, blowers, gas mowers...and their wielders. Ahem.

"My peeve for the day: why do I think about food constantly, even when I am not hungry?"

    My guess? Insulin.

There is a jackhammer that's been running for 3 sold days outside of my window at work. They are the worst.

How have I missed this thread?

My current peeve: the neighbors that have decided to let their 2 pit bulls and a chihuahua out to roam every day. They aren't bad dogs, but the fact that my dogs can see them means that Barking Must Commence. So I guess it's my own dog that is annoying me, but I would still rather their dogs didn't "accidentally" get out 3 times per day.

Daily pet peeve for October 21 2011, the new forum program settings. ALL THREADS AND TOPICS, highlighted, as in showing as being unread, no matter if you've read them or not, and ALL main forum headings showing blue, suggesting that there are newly posted thread topics contained within that have not been reviewed or read as of yet, yet there isn't, because I've already read them.

Possibly, but I have recently had extensive blood tests and everything looked good. I actually feel it has more to do with food = comfort for me, so it's my reaction to prolonged stress in my life. So yeah, I know I can fix it...I just need to get on that.

Today's peeve: Jewish mother guilt. Ugh. But that's not really my peeve. I mean, my mom is what she is. What really bothers me is that it still bothers me. Why do I let her get to me, still, at age 37? Lame.

Today's annoying noise: possibly street cleaners. A loud, unending drone--and totally unnecessary, if that's indeed what it is.

The noise never ends here. It looks like a quiet, peaceful forested area, but it's anything but.

Iris Lily, I feel your pain.

Stress causes insulin release, so I'm stickin' with my story.

It was an industrial-strength, truck mounted vacuum across the street. A new bugaboo. I left the house for an hour, and it's quiet now. Hope it stays that way.

My peeve for the day is this: how can I lose 30 lbs., and not lose an inch?? That just isn't fair.

I'm fed up to there with the USPS. It now takes a first class letter two days to travel six miles in my area. Mail orders that come by "standard shipping" or "ground shipping" are now delivered by UPS to the nearest Post Office where they can languish indefinitely before some yahoo realizes there's a box that's been sitting there for three days that *might* be a package for someone in the area. AAAAGGGGHHHH!!!

I'm also angry at the things I buy that break or don't work. (Yeah, this is two peeves - wanna make something of it? ) So far this week one of those wonderful long-life flourescent lightbulbs burned out within a few weeks of being placed in a hard-to-reach fixture, and the expensive Coca-Cola clock that would have looked so nifty in my kitchen died within a week.
