    'expiration' or 'best by' dates on foods - an article

    Here is an interesting read if you strictly adher to tossing foods when they reach the 'expiration' or 'use by' dates. They are not what you might think.

    Great article Gina. Thanks for sharing. I try to rotate my pantry, freezer and fridge stock. When I come across things that have expired I do usually use them (unless they look or smell suspicious). I also use the "dog test". My dog won't eat anything that has gone bad - something son discovered when he tried to feed her some of his hotdog from the convenience store. She refused; he ate it - he got sick. *S* If I am really not sure, I try to feed a bit to the dog and if she won't eat it, either will we.
