Hi, TooMuch! Nice to see you here! So, what is your policy on dining out? Or expending money on Concert tickkits? Edited to add: I checked to view the Las Vegas massacre thread here, which was started by a Member who joined shortly after I um "left" in 2015. Ultralight hung on for quite awhile, and I must say---endured quite a bit of abuse. We haven't seen him since I returned. At least two people have registered to participate, in the last couple months, but I must've driven them away. Right? What else could it be? Hope that helps you some. Thankk Mee.

Okay---this update' on the bike I really shouldn't have, because it creates too much clutter. I ttold you kids that it is in good shape, though very dirty. Well, yeah. But not Perfect. See? I determined that the largest of the two chainrings was imperfect, and the smaller one shows some wear, as well. So, I ordered new ones. See--nice people with GOOD jobs who don't have time to fiddle with stuff(due to other commitments) would just take it in to the bike shop, and leave it so they could repair it. But you know littlebittymeee----DIYbobby! Ha. Those nrew chainrings are being shipped from China, and it SAYS they've arrived in-country, but they're still not HERE, where I am. But, that's not a prollem, because see--I need a special tool to pull the crank arms; I axed the local bike shops, in a good-faith effort to shop local, but neither of them had one for sale in stock. But, I did find an ebay seller in KC that has one for $19, so it's on its' way. More clutter, in my tool box, right? Okay--couple other things in the form of parts to make 'er perfect is some cool, comfy new bar tape, and to replace the polished aluminum 45-degree riser stem with a used, black 17-degree riser stem. Both the same length--100mm. But guess what? The value-priced used stem has a 1 1/8 clamp on the steerer. O-kaaay. The best solution was a 1" to 1 1/8" adaptor shim, which I ordered from bikesmiths in Milwaukee. They have everything, two days away from my mailbox. So, "how con-veeen-yent" as Church Lady used to say. Ha. While I was looking the situation over, I decided to re-gear by changing out the 11-25t 9-speed rear cassette to a more Ozarks-friendly 11-30t. My sources say that the short-cage Ultegra(Shimano) rear derailleur will handle it. I may get a hanger extension, if not. Naturally, this requires a new chain, which is longer and of course, has less wear. Chain is a wear-prone part. You bet. Plus--guess what? I found an ebay seller with new, unboxed, "John Cobb"-brand saddles for a really modest price. Seller says they have a minor defect, which turned out to be that it needed the cover reglued to the seat base; it is already stapled, so I superglued the cover, then coated the glued seam with "shoe-goo" which is a good product. In the meantime, I'm detailing the bike, with a through cleaning & shining and polishing. I'm Van litllybittybobby, so scrubby dutch am I. Ha. Oh--it has a Cateye Cycloputer, which also measures cadence. I put a new battery in it, and it works. But, the installer used wire ties & vinyl electricians tape to install it, which do have their place. BUT, I'm gonna re-do the install after I clean the bike, and try to do a neater job, this time. See? So, yeah---I've invested a few more bucks in my Fine Ride. From now on(and I just know this may irritate some people, but it can't be helped), I will give the expense incurred(when asked), not in Dollars or Yen or Marks, but in 7-11ms meals. If something cost as much as one meal at 7-11ms(around $100), then I'll express it as 1 7-11msm. If it cost $50, then it's 1/2 7-11msm. Then, you'll have an exact idea of how much cash I expended on my project, bike or whatever, instead of feasting on yummy gourmet food, at a restaurant. See? Hope that helps you some. Thankk mee.

Hi, TooMuch! Nice to see you here! So, what is your policy on dining out? Or expending money on Concert tickkits? KNOW Thankk Mee.
Policy on dining out is like so many restaurants in my area, since covid. Regulations have changed and so many of the local ones are short handed, no dining room, carry out only.
As for Concert, well you will have to explain what a tickkit is. I've been to two in my life and most would say one doesn't count (took my grandmother to see Boxcar Willie who she always wanted to see, decades ago, at the neighborhood theater.) The other one was an outside event (doubt you would know the group), and no ticks were found. I actually have some tickets I need to expend a day trying to obtain, as they were bought as a present for me, by late boss/coworker, then covid hit and delayed the concert and the gal in charge of them, died before Christmas. I think they are pretty much gone at this point, but maybe with death certificates we can get them transferred to my email.

Okay----TMS---Good thing you aren't inclined to waste money/time on that stuff! Yup. I know you know full well what tickkits are; They're them things you need to get in the door, ain't they? Unless---you're like that one guy out in Doo Doo Town(where the only GOOD thing is cheap, primo used bike parts on ebay), who couldn't get into the U of I, cause he impressed the admissions person as being a wacko, so he entered a theater, blocked the back exit so it wouldn't latch, and then went to his car & brought several weapons back into the theater through the exit, and the rest is history,. Yes, I know that the daughter of one of the members of this board worked at the theater! Did you know that the theater closed for a period of time, but later underwent a remodel job and reopened? It was reported in the open media, and I read it, so don't go making your tEE-vEE analysis of littlebittymee & my motives for finding that factoid. By comparison---do you ever see detailed descriptions of road bike reefurbish projects in the news? Heck no. Ya gotta dig online, for that! See? So, no--one thing I WON'T do, is drive 1000 miles or more to attend an afternoon seminar on how to best adjust a bike seat, or something like that. Ha. I apportion my resources in a logical way; maybe my interests differ from yours, but since you kids relate to song lyrics, just remember--different strokes, for different folks---Sly Stone. Let me give you an example of some of the absurdities I;'ve seen in biking. Last year a guy my age(who is overweight, from eating too much o' that I-wah pork), lives where there is lots of good, bikable low-traffic roads & who is a perennial Rag-bag rider & his buddy from TX DROVE all the way from So. I-wah, to a park waaaaay up dere in far Northern Wah-SKon-sun, where there are paved bike paths throughout. Ok--I calculated the driving distance, and it was something in the neighborhood of a 1200-mile round trip, IIRC. It was an organized ride, the participants were mostly old men from Milwaukee, the town that Beer & Jeff Dahmmmer made famous. BTW, did you kids know that Chris Sxxcxxaxrxxvexxr was locked up here, just 5 miles away from meee, at one time??? Anyhow, The Wi. park is on level terrain, climbs are nil, trees shade the paths, and if you've ever been waaaaay up dere, you know it's balmy as an icebox, compared to Zurra. So, what's the challenge? To me, it was nothing but junk miles---junk miles in the car(actually an SUV), & junk miles in the saddle, 25 miles a day for a week. No benefit, whatever. A waste. The guy is still I-wah big, with a spare tire around his mid-sectiion. Noo, the "different strokes" rule does NOT apply here, so don't gaslight mee. But, anyway---where was I? This is VERY important---don't burn yourself out on wasted effort. In response to the posting of an absurdly kustomized old car(there's a lot of that going on, to see if they can outspend each other), I quote the old hotrodders' sardonic adage: "If a little is good, and more is better; then TOO MUCH is just right!" See? People who are tEE-vEE educated literally adhere to that , and for them---form precedes function. Yup. So--you may be wondering why I'm jamming so much verbiage together in this post. Well, it's because I wanted to offer my LBB VS Manifesto in condensed form, in case IU am forced out of here, due to circumstances beyond my control, IF you get my drift. Hope that helps you kids some. Thankk Mee.

Guess What? I found out that the Humane Society here has a price structure for catts, based on the age o' the cat. See? Okay---kittens are the most expensive, right? But---and here's the nice part---catts over age Seven are the cheapest at just $25! As I write this, I've got two old girls sitting outside on the porch who strongly resemble one another, but definitely are different though both are quite stubborn, at times. But yeah--one I have had for going on 9 full years and the other almost 8 years, and they were long past full grown when I got them. But, other than being stubborn & kinda cranky old girls, they are fairly low-maintenance catts. So, one of these days when my cat supply starts dwindling, I will opt for a humane society deal on a 7+ cat. Or two, if say they are buddy-buddy give-ups by someone going into a care center or something. See? But, I've got about 3 rolls of welded wire 6' high, and I may buy several more rolls, and build a cat yard, to keep them safe, outside. Yup. That's a project, but a very worthwhile one. Catts make good pets, contrary to popular belief. Yup.

How about something useful.
Have you ever rebuilt an air hose reel? Picked up an old Speedair one at a garage sale a few years ago ($1), and now have a proper home for it, but it doesn't spin. Any tricks/things to watch for, before disassembly?

Any tricks/things to watch for, before disassembly?Well, I have zero(0) experience with those, because none of the numerous industrial shops/ automotive shops I've worked in ever used them! I figure that they were used mainly for show, to keep things VERY neat-n-tidy. Because, coiling up your air hoses is pretty unnecessary, unless you are doing major "housekeeping", to impress visitors. But yeah---if you can get it working without doing much, and clean it up, you could EBay it to some automotive nostalgia buff, who likes to turn their hobby garage into a private museum. But, you prolly already knew that. Heck--just sell it as-is with disclosure; the buyer will just use it for show, anyway. Hope that helps you some. Thankk Mee.

Okay----Storing pieces of SCRAP METAL at home! A total no-no. Don't you know it lowers property values, and creates CLUTTER, keeping old junk around! Also--if your wife of over 30 years INSISTS that you dispose of it, is it worth jeopardizing her good will to even argue about it? It's waaay easier to purchase another piece of metal when you need it---on EBay or wherever, than it is to acquire another wumman w/a nice gummmint pension.. Especially these days, when wimmen don't even really need a man, anymore. See? So, yeah--do as you're told, & pitch it. Hope that helps you some. Thankk Mee. See releve45134513nt photo.

Bobby we've had this discussion, don't screw up your last chance. What seems to be the trouble, Alan? Can you be more specific? Does it have anything to do with Mr BAE? I suspect that it does, which is kinda peculiar because Mr BAE takes more liberties on this forum than any 3 littlebittybobbies or packys, and always gets a pass! Well, doesn't he? Give a plausible explanation, if you don't mind.

I've never had an issue with Packy/Littlebittybobby, and I'm always happy to see people actively participating on the forum. I can handle a bit of mockery and snark, and I consider myself pretty tolerant in general. However, I don't understand why we have another current member in apparent good standing who actively bullies other members and has driven people away, but LBB doesn't seem to get as much leeway. I realize there might be stuff going on behind the scenes that isn't apparent to me, but from where I stand, it seems like there's a bit of a double standard here.

It's not so much a double standard but rather a specific standard which was set as a condition of approving a new account, that condition based upon several years of verifiable incidents outside the forum. At this point I'm just providing a reminder of that condition.

I had to look up what Strava is. rosarugosa, if you are meaning who I think you are meaning, the other person trolls people on this forum.
Strava, is an actual account which provides a persons physical location and history (GPS coordinates and routines/routes etc). Think of Tradd's stalker, able to come to your house. Different level.

OK, that makes sense. I can see how that takes things to another level if there's an implied threat to seek someone out in person and potentially cause harm or mischief.

So the standards are set up to regulate specific perpetrators. I can see that there may be different methods by different perpetrators - bullies, trolls and/or stalkers, but I also see where the lines for each can be crossed and merge within each other. More importantly, I wonder how different the victims feel about being the recipients of any of these.

Okay---Before you kids go jumping to conclusions and saying "oh, looky---lbb is baaack!" , I want to make it clear that I am not "back", I am simply stopping by to tie up a few loose ends on some VERY important subjects. There are footnotes in any good non-fiction book, don't you know ? So, yeah--I've got some factoids to share on VERY important subjects. Up[ in that VERY insignificant littlebiutty town way up in the middle o' nowhere, in the state I now refer to as "Little Texas", where they do everything they do in a VERY grandiose way, they do tend to jump to conclusions and using the colloquilism "get their panties in a wad" about things which challenge their processes around there. More on that later. I neglected to let you know that during the last few years, we lost some of the cast of characters in the JFK Assassination. I won't explain just who they are; you can do your homework and look them up. I will just identify them. We lost Jim Levelle; we lost Michael Paine, and Robert Oswald, and we lost Pricilla McMillan Johnson. Her book is the first book I purchased online, through Alibris, after they just formed up. But, yeah--it's a good book, and I had checked it out at the lirrrrarrry, read it and took irt back and several years later, bought my own copy to re-read. It is a big thick book which you could use as a doorstop, but it reads like some fiction spellbinder, so good is it. I get my wires crossed, some times(as genius has its' limits), but it is titled "Lee and Marina" or is it: "Marina and Lee"? And, the authors name might be Pricilla Johnson McMillan. Ha. But, yah. Check it out., Robert Oswald had been in the news, within the last 10 years before his demise, RE: his legal battle with the mortician who kept Lee Oswalds coffin in storage for decades after he was exhumed in 1981 to be examined to ascertain his identity(the mastoid operation on his skull was the key evidence)and he was reburied in a nice new coffin. Well, after the mortician put the old casket up for sale a decade or so ago, Robert O. sued successfully to reclaim it. It has been bid up to at least $80,000, but Oswald said he wanted the coffin in order to have it destroyed, and not kept as a collectible. Imagine that. Yup. Hope that helps you some. There's other footnotes, but I'll leave you with one other VERY interesting factoid, for now. I've been listening rtoi some classic one or two or three hit wonders of the 1960's, lately. Nooo, these are not Bob Dylan or summa these people still touring the country at age 80, selling $200 tickets in a converted Hockey arena with 10,000 other fools. Thewse are one(or two or three)hit wonders who stay comfy at their retirement villas in Fla or Ca or Connetttycut, living off song royalties for their one hit. They've had their fame, and called it good. Some of them are dearly departed, as well. Anyway---here's the factoid. I was listening to two recordings of a song that was recorded in a stuidio, using VERY complex techniques--dubbing of session musicians who played a short phrase that made the song famous and so on, but the main thing is that these two songs were produced first using the vocal track of one entity, then for one reason or another, remixed, using the vocals of another artist. Same music, different singer. See? One of them you can hear, where much later on, a clever person mixed it so that two of the singers were on the same recording. See? Back in the day, most songs aimed at youth were about teen angst and lost or found romance. But, I pay no attention to ltyrics; only the souind. See? Anyway, you have "it hurts to be in love", which was supposed to be a release by Neil Sedaka, but due to business being business, they dubbed Gene Pitneys' voice in, instead, and it became a big, big hit. Pitney was an American, but every bit as acclaimed in England, at the time. Anyway, on youtube, you can hear a "duet" of the recording, with the the vocal tracks of both singers dubbed in. And then--there's California Dreaming" by the Mamas and the Papas. Yes, John & Michelle wrote it, but the song was recorded first with Barry McGuire singing! Yup. Well, then the record company dubbed in The Mamsa & Papas, took the Barry track out, and the rest is history. See? They say you can actually hear Barry a very little bitty bit, on the M& P version! Yup. Hope that helps you some. Thanjkk Mee./

Okay---Yesterday, I spent some time while it was VERY hot outside, indoors in the AC, updating and recalibrating my outer-space contact units. It took awhile, but it is done. New software and so on. The units, which I call "Medallions" are the essential part of being able to participate in online tracking of my movements. See---as I might've said before, it is also possible for me to follow every one of you people on Strava. And, it is possible for you to follow me, as well! (Cue Twilight Zone theme). Yes, I know it sounds VERY creeee-peee. But, that's the age of technology we now live in. You are never completely alone at all times. See?

Hi LBB, nice to see you stop by and hope the furry family is doing well.Thank You, Thank You very much, RR. My furry friends have been fine, except for one issue in particular. I also had someone donate a cat to me, that is a case of being semi-feral. He/She has been sitting in a cat carrier inside an extra-large (plastic)dog crate, since thursday. The cat carrier is open, and there's food & water& litter in the dog crate. But cat is so shy that he hisses and growls when I check on him/her. Now, the donor says the cat will become tame, once it gets to know you. Yup. Also, there is a large mature neutered Brown Tabby that frequents my doorstep to look for handouts, but I haven't seen him in the last two days. He was sitting in the cats bed, and when I opened a can for the two old girls, he showed some interest, but did not eat. But see, it was over 90 degrees out and humid. I'm thinking IU might look into summa those gps pet trackers for around $30. They attach to the collar, and evidently show where your cat has been disappearing to. Kind of like having your bike medallion connected to outer space. Which brings to mind a story that you kids will find VERY amusing and entertaining. You will tsk tsk with glee. What happened was, it was very cool yesterday compared to the previous sweltering days, and I hopped on my classic, self-powered 1987 Trek 1000 for a quick ride to the suburban village 8 miles away Pop.6300 and NO stinkin' mOO-vEE theater, private or non-profit. Ha. They have better things to do. Yup. Anyway, I was in a hurry to get going and try out the new used weelz I just put on the bike. About 2-3 miles out, I noticed that I was experienced undue amounts of fatique, already. Hm. I stopped to cross the 4-lane and noticed the back weel was hard to turn! No wonder--the tire was rubbing on the reflector bracket. So, I readjusted the weel, and continued on. Much, drastically better. But at just over 5 miles out, my rear tyre went flat, and guess what? I had left my spare pack containing tubes, tools & CO2 cartridges back at the ranch, on the table. So, I did not panic---just recited my mantra--"Genius Has Its' Limits.......", and turned around and walked the bike back home. Yep. Afterward, I went to the dystopian retailer, Wally system, AKA "BareWallsMart" or; "A Taste of Moscow", to get a tube repair kit, and they actually had them in stock! I also picked up the last bag o' the large economy-sized dry catt food they had on the shelf--a 35-pounder. The catts really like that flavor. I had to gain permission from the retailer to make my purchase. Anyway, the cause of the flat in the BRAND NEW TUBE was a tiny pin hole evidently caused by the rim strip not entirely covering one of the spoke access holes in the inner rim. See--I'm not going to discard a new, $7 tube, when I can fix it with a patch! I sure hope, anyway. Wish me luckk. But, I WILL be carrying my emergency kit, next time out. Hope that helps you kids some. Thankk Mee.

So you would put the GPS tracker on the Brown Tabby?
littlebittybobby
6-28-22, 9:58am
So you would put the GPS tracker on the Brown Tabby? I'm glad you axed me that quession, RR. Yes, I would be strongly inclined to do so. I've considered purchasing some elastic and snap fasteners from the fabric department at WallyHole, to make some cat collars, and using a marker to write a message on the collar, for the purpose of finding out if the cat has a home or letting people know that the cat wearing the collar does have a home. See--a nagging question is the concise, accurate definition of the popularly-used word "stray". It to me seems like a generic, catch-all word that is used to describe the feral or semi-feral(due to abandonment) or the abandoned pet or the pet that has inadvertently gotten lost or simply the cat from down the street who has a large territory to patrol. So yeah--that word "stray" is ambiguous and overused. Last evening, about 730, T. Brown was casually lounging out in my driveway, waiting for me to open a can o' cat yummies for the old girls, so he could join them. I placed his portion separate but near the girls, and they had dinner together. When the old girls got near his portion, he gracefully swatted themn away. I sat out there, having my water, and gave Brown a pat. After he'd finished his canned food, he conveyed the message that he could use some more o' that, but since I was all out o' canned, I got him some dry crunchies, but he just sniffed at them, sat for a minute, then wandered off casually. He makes his exit in several diffenrent directions--East, West, South, and sometimes North. So, yeah--I have no clue--only theories, about who "owns" this cat, or if he has a real home. He's in good condition, looks well-fed but not overweight(no wonder, given given his wandering around) and I even put a drop of Revolution on him and some ivermectin/paraquantel in his canned food last week, which he refused to eat. He ambles around at a slow pace, but I have seen him scramble at a fast pace, before. No way am I going to try and confine him or even pick the cat up; that would be tantamount to catnapping someones' pet, a taboo. But, yeah--I think it's a legitimate issue for me to know if he actually has a home base with humans that claim him and can give him the basics--food, water, shelter, medical care. Plus, a minimum of cat attention. He's a rugged looking kittyboy, and he knows it. I'd really hate to see him end up in the custody of animal control, or worse. Hope that helps you some. Thankk Mee. Okay--here's a VERY fascinating anecdote: If you kids recall, I went to that "Friends O' The Liberry" book sale at the fairgrounds, which usually has redneck events such as monster truck exhibitiions, livestock shows, Gun Shows, and of course Swap Meets for parts and old, junk cars. Eyesores that lower property values, as everyone knows. Anyway, I purchased 4 books, and being that it is summewrtime, I am making slow proigress on them. Okay, here's my point---two of the books were priced at $4; one book at $5; and the other at $3. All prices written in pencil, with very similar handwriting. But yeah---One book was titled as-if it were about JFK, another as-if it were about General Patton. The third is definitely about Jimmah Cahtah, and the 4th is about Adolf Hitler. So, guess the prices? Ha. Times up. The JFK & Patton books were $4, and part of a series published by Bill O'reilly. You can buy them new online or at WallyHell for about $6! The Hitler book was the $5 book, and the Cahtah book was $3. Isn't that _______?(whatever). I'll let you kids be the judge. But yeah, I'm about halfway through the Patton book, though it's not so much about Patton but the last 6 months of the war in Europe on the Western Front. It is interesting though. Hope that helps you some.

Okay---an update, to bring you current. T. Brown did not appear at the usual time, yesterday. I have security surveillance cameras, and he was nowhere to be seen. There has been however another brown tabby lurkiing around here for several months, now. Hadn't seen her in the last few days, but this morning the cam caught her checking the food dishes on the porch. She is VERY wary, thin, and always heads out back when she knows she's been spotted. So, yeah--this makes another open file on my "stray cats in the hood". Will keep you kids imnformed. Hope that helps you somew. Thankk Mee. Will keep you updated on this. Back to my regularly-scheduled program of YardWork! See---remember that 60's Tee-vee show drama called Combat! ? It was filmed in B&W and I didn't watch it much back then but most of the episodes are on youtube and it was really pretty good. The two lead actors now deceased were jewish, and so was the series' producer, just so you'll know. But, yeahj---it's set in WW2 after D-day in France. It is like the twighlight Zone series in that it is not only B&W, but also introduces actors who were early in their careers that later became familiar faces on other shows, though I can't recall specifics. I'm not that much of a Tee-Vee buff. Especially now, when everything that comes out of those illiberal newscasters' mouths is a lie or misinformation. Yup. Hope that helps you some. Anyway, I call my new Reality show YardWork! , just because it is just like that show Combat!, where I'm in a war zone, trying to conquer this vegetation that is occupying MY land. See?

Okay--here's the Murder Weapon. One o' them Big Trucks. Ban these Now. I'm sure you kids will agree. See--two Lesbians, who had supposedly been in a loving, caring relationship for over ten years, were brutally murdered when they were out partying for the evening(leaving the kids at home) and went through the driveup at a late-night fast food place, to quell the munchies, and then turned left at this interesection into the path of the truck (in the photo) driven by a Farm Boy who evidently also was out partying that evening. Approximately 12;30 AM Sunday morning, a few weeks ago. What else have been drivers been doing, at that time o' night? Be honest. Of course, the Confuse Media Dutifully conformed to the current trend in news casting, and placed the blame squarely on the Farm Boy, since he was obviously a Cons. and his Victims fit the liberal model--obviously. Surprising that it would play in Peoria that way!!!! After the farm boy was released from jail on the required overnight hold, he went home and committed suicide. Used a gun, too. Naturally, The Confuse Media graciously implied that it was justice served. Later on, His parents published a lengthy obituary to fill the void the gap that The Confuse Media left in the story, to attest to the good character of their lost son. At their own expense, of course. I bet the obit cost at least $1000. The Lesbians(as I'm sure they would choose to be remembered)had turned left from where that white pickup is stopped, into the path of the oncoming farm boys' vehicle, late at night, and had to be extricated using those nifty Jaws Of Death, like Lady Die. See? They were Martyred, doncha know. The questions not answered in the various "news" stories was: who had the right-of-way? and why did the Lesbian Driver(as emphasized by The Media) not see the Farm Boy's Truck, headed her and her loving partners' way, and not proceed? Nope. To the VERY professional and objective(Ha) News Media, it was all about, and may as well be headlined: "Drunken Farm Boy in Big Truck Murders Lesbian Couple In Cold Blood, then turns gun on himself to escape justice!"Yup. Thankk Mee.

Okay---another current event and VERY important subject is the case of another overzealous callyfornya ideologue-in-high-places doing their very best to make Heterosexual-Men-gone-wrong pay for their misdeeds for all of eternity. The congressperson represents the cesspool of callyfornya that has a whole lot of unresolved social problems, even though there is an abundance of personal wealth and human capital in the region. Anyway, what happened was, 30 years ago, clear out east in Virginia, a career Naval officer took an interest in a blonde female navy underling nick-named "Bunny"(yup), even though both were already married. That's a military rule broken, right there. But according to media reports (which we know are not totally objective and accurate), she not only rejected his indecent proposals, but reported him to the higher-ups. As I say, the News reports are sketchy on details, and I haven't found any true-crime books written on the case, but apparently he was about halfway into his 20-years in the military, which would've made him eligible for retirement & pension benefits; potentially 40 years+ worth. But, the allegation evidently scotched that, and he was allowed to resign from the military and avoid consequences such as a court martial or whatever. He screwed up, and He paid the price. But, he did not have the common sense to just move on, and become an over-the-road trucker or insurance salesman or whatever, as a civilian. Nope. He made things into a total disaster by plotting, with an accomplice, an abduction, rape, and murder of Bunny, to avenge himself! Details are sketchy, but just two short years after her body was found rolled up in a carpet at his home, he found himself sitting in Virginias' Electric Chair. He had waived the lengthy appeals process, and had even made arrangements for his cremains to be interred in a niche in nearby Arlington National Cemetery; a veteran benefit for which he was eligible and received. Okay---fast forward almost 30 years, and now you have this fanatical callyfornya ideologue and respected maker of public policy--a person whom I suspect has serious psychological issues of their own, based on reading their online bio. Anyway, this legislator tacked on a last-minute rider on a budgetary bill, that was intended to require the VA to have this executed Navy Veterans' remains removed from the national cemetery, and returned to any surviving family members or disposed of. See? Yes, the guy definitely went over the top to avenge what he viewed as an injustice or whatever. Like I said, he definitely had issues, but no specifics were given about what went on, and what the actual facts were about "Bunny" reporting him for harrassment. Women don't just make things up, do they? Ask Judge Kavanaugh.Ha. But, yeah---the guy took his vendetta too far by acting upon it the way he did, and he willingly paid the penalty. He didn't deny his crime, but tried to justify it at trial, and after his conviction,he evidently didn't want to sit in prison for years, hoping for a more favorable outcome. But, anyway---my littlebitty point is that I seriously believe that that Californya Congressperson is more than a bit "touched", too, by pursuing this special legislation to further punish someone who is 3 decades in their grave! Just way over the top. She needs to tend to her knittin', and address the needs of her constituents, not grind emotional axes--like the executed guy did! . But, you know what? We don't see any objections from other pols thus far, because I'll bet no one wants to risk the wrath of these vengeful leftist wackos! I think you kids know just how they are---it has become commonplace. See? Hope that helps you some. Thankk mee for contributing another sad and bizarre story to the forum.

I would rather talk about cats. I understand that it's a pretty common scenario for an enterprising feline to make the rounds impersonating a hungry stray and score extra meals from kindhearted humans. Our cats don't go out, but Ray will frequently tell my DH that mom didn't feed him and he's about to perish from starvation, so DH ends up feeding him a second meal.

In my childhood household it was often stated that the cats lie about being fed, including Dr. Pinky who was quite intelligent but not entirely ethical.

This Update---okay T Brown appeared out o' nowhere yesterday evening at about 7:30 PM, and came right up on the front steps. See--a few months ago, he was very wary and that's prolly a good thing. So, being the bleeding heart that I am, I fostered his dependency by cracking op a can o' yum-yums--a whole can--while MY catts were indoors, thinking they could use some yum-yums about then. See? It's like some scatterbrained career pol out in callyfornya who cares more about illegals and ukrainia, than they do their own country, and the ones that built it! See? I figure i'm just virtue-signaling by feeding "stray" cats, when there are issues that would really matter---like taking the huskees to the park, more often. But, yeah--Brown extended his visit awhile, and then ambled over to my car---mu 15-year-old-economy car that I got at the wreckin' yard 5 years ago and completely refurbished, and jumped up on the hood and lay there and then went up on the roof. Okay, now---here's a precedent---I called out to brown, and he jumped down off the car and instead of nonchalantly wandering away off the propertry, he headed back over to me, and hung out for awhile. Then, he left again, and just as he reached the lane, I called out to the cat, and guess what? Instead of ignoring littlebittymee, he turned around and made an encore visit. The cat likes to nip at you playfully to express his appreciation for the yummy cat food, too. He finally headed out again, the same direction he was going when he made his encore. But, yeah---it is very possible that the animal is a double-dipper and a cat polygamist. Yes, I do have ethical and financial concerns about the practice of feeding a cat that does in fact have human caregivers, elsewhere. Like I said, cat ignored his food the other day, and did not appear the next day. Hope that helps you some. Thank Mee.

Okay---With the input from several o' you kids, I may conclude that some cats tend to travel around the 'hood, and look for more food, just for something to do, even though they are receiving adequate nourishment at their home! Yup.. For my littlebitty POV, this might be comparable to Those People up in Iwah, who travel from one village in the middle o' nowhere, to another village, to "try out" the yummy, large portions of MEAT at the converted-storefront restaurant that they heard about from one of their associates. They usually have a large, comfterbal late-model( if not brand-new) vehicle, and rack up upwards of 20k miles per year, seeking food to supplement their already rich diet. This is VERY commonplace, and of course I track various case studies. So, it's not just something I made up, to offend you kids.. Nope. But yeah---last night, righht on time, T Brown appeared out o' nowhere, and I gave him a handfull of yummy crunchies, topped by just one half a can of yummy cat food. Thwen, went in and gave the rest of the can of food to my fat old ladies(cats). Yup. He ate partway down into the crunchies, and made his exit back to wherever he lives. There is a regular patron of that fancy-schmancy place upstate, who just loves the yummy $40 steak. But, I was thinking that if I were to forgo that kind of extravagance, could I justify giving a stray cat a littlebitty handout several times a week, as a substitute? I do enjoy having cat visitors. Just wondering.

Did I tell you kids that the "Wade" we hear all the controversy about was in reference to Henry Wade, who was the Dallas County, Texas District Attorney, back in the day, and held the position for a VERY long time. In fact, he was the D.A. when the case of Jack Ruby was handled by the office, for the murder of accused assassin Lee Oswald. And o' course---Ruby got sentenced to the electric chair, but never made it. He died in custody of natural causes. Yup.

Okay---I would like to start a lively discussion of certain grocery shoppers behavior, that ought to be dealt with by management and big gubmt. . Nooo--it's not just shoplifting; it's those people in electric carts or regular carts who are oblivious to other shoppers & VERY inconsiderate because they pause in front of food coolers and take an extended time to make their selection, and block the aisle as well. I would like to see those people rounded up, and sent away to rehabilitation kamps in the Utah desert. They can not only lose 300+ pounds, but learn a little respect for others. See photo of a good place for a work kamp. There's lead or uranium in them there hills.

What I can't understand is that the seats down front and center cost $425 plus tax, the seats farther back are $275, and the seats waaaay waaay in the back are under $100. But, logic would dictate that the farther away you can sit from ol' joe, the better, and those seats out-of-earshot would be priceless! Ha. What is it?RR, TYVM for axxing me that quession. It is a GM Muncie M-20 4 speed manual transmission for 1966-1970. Has a Hurst Shifter. Hurst was the guy who also invented the "Jaws O' Life" tools, for extricating crash victims. But, this will go in my 66 Chevelle, so it will get better fuel economy during this dastardly dreadful economic dog days downturn dilemma due to derelict demmacrattic rule, which is having a drastic & disasterous effect on all but the most devoted & dedicated diehard car jocks. Okay----I got two more o' them Muncies, that I've actually had longer than the one I showed you kids the other day. One is the same model, that I took out of a 68 Ponnyac. I traded for an automatic transmission, installed. That was oh, 1979. Then there's the Muncie M 21 that I pieced together. I bought it from a f-book friend who owned a wreckin' yard. It was a burned out corvette from I think he said the quad cities. Well, the case was melted, but for $50 it was still worth it. It was the 1971-1974 year model. I broke the case open with a sledge, and put all the gears in an older case along with a 66-70 input gear. I still also have the original clutch(input) gear around here, too. I did use it in my car for several years, and it worked fine. But yeah---I am saving it for another car to use it in. See?

Okay---Carlos Santana, legendary rock idol who is now 74, got to feeling weak onstage the other night. So, his concert schedule has changed, with several cancellations for the near future. Hopefully, those fanatics who aren't content to stay home and listen to records made by carlos when he was in his prime will receive a refund. Sorry, but I just don't get the concept of seeing old-timers in concert, or anybody in concert, for that matter. Too much of a hassle. Too much moolah. Too much exposure to risk, as well. Hope that helps you kids some. Thankk Mee.

I would actually love to see Carlos live sometime if the circumstances were right. We haven't gone to any large events like concerts since Covid, but there is definitely something magical about live performances (although we don't love the hassle involved either). Anyway, it's kind of funny that my mother, by some strange circumstance, saw him live several years ago. She does not like the same type of music we do, and apparently she spent the whole show with her hands over her ears. What a waste of a Santana ticket!

Well--yeah. That is sad. One youtube video I occasionally watch is that of Santana & his group at Woodstock performing:Soul Sacrifice. At that time, Carlos was only about 21 y.o., and his drummer(one of thewm) was I believe about 16 or 17. Just a kid. But, it's a good video. Pretty much exemplifies his music.

Okayy-- Something you kids should've realized by now is that I am more progressive than most progressives, and even more conservative than most conservatives. Yup. See---they've had some outrageous crimes committed here, lately. It appears to be getting worse, every year. So, what we need to do here in Zurra, is: A) Execute clearly guilty perps, ASAP, just like they did with the perps in the 1953 Greenlease Kidnapping. and B)Change the method of execution to a very brilliant scheme used in the 40's by the state odf Mississippi. What they did was, have a mobile electric chair set up on a truck, wherein it could be transported to the county where the crime occurred, and conduct public executions. No doubt there will be some civil disturbances by "activist" grouips traveling from out-of-state, to object & of course--riot,burn & kill, so yeah--- empower the Governor to use Nat' Guard or State Police or citizens' militias to maintain order. And so on. Unintended Consequences--yes, if we let them. Benefits: a reduction in violent crime, among other things. More confidence in the justice system, as well. See?

Okay----two VERY important things: 1) Fried Ramen Noodles. Yup. 2) Good mooo-vvvee to watch: A documentary by PBS from waaay back in 1993, callwed: "Frontline: Who was Lee Harvey Oswald?". A very brilliant film made in the wake of the Oliver Stone docufiction mooovvveee, JFK. Way too many Americans were Tee-Vee Educated by Stones' mooo-vvee, unfortunately. This is the effect teee-vveee & mooo-veee trash have on our culture, and that includes the gangsta and terrorist culture we see now. BTW, did you kids know that Oswald had been under clinical psychiatric care at least TWICE, before that dreadful day in downtown Dallas? I bet you didn't; all that matters to most people is all the conspiracy crap on the toob. Yup. Hope that helps you some. Thankk Mee.

Fried ramen noodles sounds intriguing. Yes, they are, RR. Well, maybe not intriguing, but ahhh-summ & A-may-zeen & Yummy. Yup. What happened was, I had a grocery sack with a bunch of Ramen noodles, and the CATTS were intrigued by them and started rummaging through it, opening some of the packages. Anyway, I salvaged them by pulling the packets of flavoring out and storing them, and using the opened noodles in dogg food, after boiling them. Doggs like that kind of thing, but I don't care for them. There were two undamaged packages, so I went ahead with my scheme to make ramen noodles more palatable by frying them, which I did. Plus, other low-cost ingredients. They were yummy. When I perfect my recipe, I will give more details on how it works. But yeah--it's a pretty cheap dinner, and much better than plain ramen noodles. Yup. I don't know that I would drive 1000 miles, one way, or fly to Porter Reeko, just to have a plate of fried ramen noodles, but they are good, nonetheless. Hope that helps you kids some.

She was found in a motel parkin' lot along a busy street, and I did what I could to see if anyone reported her missing. This was a year ago. But, nope. Anyway, an old F-book friend got out and DROVE from his rural I-wah home, to an auditorium to see a past-its'-prime band called: Night Ranger. Tickicks were $50!! Prolly stopped & ate, on the way, too. Prolly stopped at a saloon on the way home. That's his lifestyle. Me: I have projects, I have pets, and worthwhile stuff. I did find a Youtube channel to sit-n-watch in my leisure time, late at night, called: HVAC School. It's an excellent review of field diagnostics. So yeah--that should be fun. Also, I like several electronics channels---Uncle Doug(which features restoration of vintage tube amps & Uncle Doug playing guitar to try them out)and also Mr Carlson's Lab, and there are others. But yeah---those are good. Better that driving miles and miles to see some elderly rock group.4585

7-11-22, 12:56am
Little Miss Fluffy is beautiful.TYVM, R/R. Thing about Fluffy is, she was found at a motel. I went over there very late on a Sunday night, against my better judgement. The motel has my name & number, in case someone inquired about the kitty cat.. Anyway, she remained on the local online lost pets group, and I drove around the area several times, after looking over the google maps view of that area. Well, I figured she might have strayed away from one of two low-income 'partment plexes, because they are located right behind the mo-tel and an Aldi's. So I drove through the plexes several times, on several occasions, slowly, to see if there were missing cat signs placed there. Nope. I could say why wouldn't somebody be frantic to find their MS Fluffy??? Well, okay---she likes people and isn't really scared, but is a little squirrelly, and no matter how nice you are to her, you're gonna get scratched every now and then, and it will draw blood. And that's since I spade her--she was in heat, too. And the peopl;e in that 'partment plex might've found her too high-maintenance, especially after they called around to local vets to see about spaying, and it's too much for them. They got her as a kitten, and the novelty wore off. Plus, maybe they had to move, and couldn't take her with. See? But, anyway, she's a swell---no, wait--ahhh-summ & a-may-zeen cat. Hope that helps you kids some.

Okay---another thing Fluffy does for something to do is engage in a stare down with Speckles. Speckles likes controversy sometimes, and so stalking and/or a stare down is a great way to cause some drama. Because see--Fluffy can be a drama queen, and she has those sharp, sharp claws. So, you want to avoid being in the middle of a domestic quarrel. Thing is, they are more about hissy stuff than actual warfare. But yeah--the claws come out when they are fleeing, because it gives a fleeing catt more traction, less slippage, like studded snow tires. See? I was reading elsewhere on this board about whether or not you get to keep your email addresses, should you switch providers. As far as I know & based upon personal experience, you do keep them. See---at one time, over a decade ago, I had the late-great "WebTV", which is the equivalent of the 45 rpm record. It really was an economical way to have net service, though it had its limitations. It was dial-up, for one. No video, either. But yeah--I STILL use my WEBTV email addys for certain things that would clutter up my mailbox for personal correspondence. Yup. See? Hope that helps you kids some. There's no substitute for having a lifetime of experience, to be as wise as I am. Thankk Mee.

Okay---here's some more VERY important stuff. They make those Pagoda(brand) Egg Rolls. Found in the frozen foods section. Well, Bare Walls Mart handles the brand, but ONLY the chicken & pork flavored kind. See--I prefer the cabbage kind(vegetable) that the local supermarket carries. They are okay if microwaved, but what is muich better is when you MW them for a minute to thaw & preheat them, then fry in a small skillet. I make the frying medium using Aldi onion soup mix, and then add butter or whatever and some other sprinkle-ons and fry them at low heat. It's tricky and takes practice, but done right they are ahhh-summm and a-may-zeen. Yup. Even though they're frozen food, a box of them goes a long way & makes them fairly economical. But yeah--you can use stuff like ranch dressing, etc., to add calories. Just don't fry the dressing. Yup. Hope that helps you kids some. Okay---now, it's time to head out to the driveway to work on my 4 x4 suburban project. I got it 1 1/2 years ago, for only $350. It had been sitting in the woods for years.

If you'll notice, the FD rescue squad has a box o' tools and a hydraulic ram set up to try and lift the trailer, 'cause the Tessla is definitely stuck under there. 4598

Thankk Mee.
I think the 45 had a lot more staying power than Webtv, which was a real flash in the pan. I actually still have a modest collection of 45s, although I can't tell you the last time I played one. I think you are right about the email addresses though. I know people who still use AOL addresses.
"There's no substitute for having a lifetime of experience, to be as wise as I am." That would look nice cross-stitched on a sampler. :laff:

But yeah---45's. The last 45 rpm I purchased was on EBay, for $5 in really good shape. See--I was in the groc. store one night(where you hear all the classics on the P.A.), and I heard an old Beach Boys song being sung by someone I did not recognize. Research at home revealed that the BBs covered this 1950's Rock song as such, but that in 1972, Bette Midler sung it as a ballad, with Barry Manilow accompanying her on piano. Ha. Not a fan of either, but Midlers version of this was pretty good. But, yeah---I'm going to reorganize my 45's, and set up a (new) turntable I bought maybe 10 years ago, and connect it to a 1950's tube amp "hi-fi" that is a family heirloom. But, the "hi-fi" will need a "re-cap" and stuff. So, that's why I am following the tube amp repair people on youtube. See? Most, but not all 45's were mono-phonic, and some were recorded in stereo. But, live bands--well, they are mono. Well, aren't they? One of my oldest 45's is Wild Thing, recorded by the Troggs, which I purchased while still in jr hi. The writer of the song, Chip Taylor, is still active, believe it or not. Ha. Hope that helps you some. Thankk Mee.

Okay---nother thing about Webtv was no sound, either. But they had special webtv background music, some of which I enjoyed very much. "Ambient" was the category I chose. But guess what? Someone has posted a collection of that webtv background music on youtube. Thank them. Ha. But yeah--I listen to it, once in awhile.

Here's something else----I was in thee Big Box Hdwe store, and noticed two things: mis-mixed paint has doubled in price, and also they didn't have the nuts n stuff I came for. Out of stock! They are bout as bad as Bare Walls Mart. I went to the farm supply, which is where I shoulda gone anyway. I got the nuts-n-threaded rod n big washers I needed to install inner front axle seals on my monster $350 Suburban. See--the guy on the only youtube video said do-like-I-do--Beat them in with a Hammer. Ha. Well, that won't work very well; you'll wreck a $12 seal or drive it in crooked. So, I got a length of threaded rod & nuts n washers and drew them in, gently. The old seals weren't even leaking; it's just that a)it's a 35-year old vehicle, and at some point they WILL start leaking, and IU'm not getting any younger. b) I had the axles out to refurbish the u-joints and steering linkage, etc. Yup. I know what you kids are thinking: why waste your time on an old junker? Why not just go to the official, authorized NEW truck dealer, and "pull the trigger" on a nice, new, sharp, new monster truck? Ha. No way. But where was I? Oh yeah--at the Big Box, on the PA system was playing "This Magic Moment" by Jay & The Americans. They get very little recognition in this part of the country. It is Brill Building Music, with superb studio production, which I happen to be a fan of. Anyway, we lost "Jay" just last year, unfortunately. But yeah--you can still listen to J&TA on youtube; I still have mine on a 45 rpm from back in '68. Yup. Hope that helps you kids some. Thankk mee.

Okay, yeah---Wild thing. The same guy had another hit, also performed by another artiste. It is "Angel in the Mornin'. As I said, I'm not into lyrical content. Nope. I'm like your music teacher--it's the sound, the instruments, the melody, da riddim. Not sappy lyrics. You won't catch me going to any Kris Kristofferson Concerts. Nope. Also---I'm following you kids on Strava.

That's okay, R/R; You can't have everything---where would you put it? But yeah---I lived in the Northwest in the 60's, in the middle o' nowhere, and there was a nightclub across the state line that featured regional bands, one of which was "Merillee & the Turnabouts". She recorded "Angel" in Memphis, using Elvis' backup band, which made it sound perfessional. It was her one hit! In the 80's, some gal named "Juice Newton" also recorded it, and it was very popular in flyover country. Yup. But yeah--Chip Taylor is a native of Yonkers, NY. A city boy. Yup.

Okay---I wanted to issue a caveat---this might be VERY boring, to you. Even something to get offended about. Ha. Anyway, I'm getting my pawn shop, 2004-model ex tri-bike finished up. Still don't have bar tape on 'er, because I''m dialing in the fit and adjustments. See---it is an "E" bike now, which means the rear gears go up to 11, like Spinal Taps' Amps. The only 'lectric on the thing is some small clip-on lights that are on the way. Otherwise, it's entirely self-powered. Want a motor? Get a Honda, or whatever, and don't pretend it's a bicycle. But still---to a purist, having an old tri bike with an 11 speed is kinda cheating, IFyou're a purist. Yup. 11-speed is an innovation that came to market in the last decade. It is a "game-changer" for many people, including littlebittymee. Those integrated shifters I bought from a guy who had a new bike 4-5 years ago, and was riding in town and got hit. He survived, but the bike was ruined. The shifters had a deep scuff on one, and the rubber hood was torn, but I cleaned up the scratch & purchased a nice new hood. So yeah---it took me this long to find a bike to use them on. Ha. Anyway, this was an early "tri bike" which had different bars and shifters and brake levers. I determined that it was too "rad" for me to use for road riding, and also lacked lower gearing for the rolling hills you find just about everywhere, here. See? All the Cool People who follow the(marketing) trends have gone to so-called "Gravel Bikes", which essentially are a rehash of the mountain bike. They want to be trendy, see? But, they are available with 11 speed, so yeah---the hardware will fit on an old road bike, contrary to what the "experts" at the official bike shops will tell you. Yup. Their job is to: A)Sell new bikes B) Perform routine maintenance on bikes, for those who are tool-adverse. Yup. C) sell generic accessories, like thick, padded comfterbal seats. Anyway, here's a photo of my project, and of course the cables are not trimmed & bar tape is lacking. I used one of the VERY comfterbal take-off seats from the bike shop that came off a nice, new wimmins' bike; they wanted something even MORE comfterbal on their new bike! See?4601

Okay---Guess what? It was waaay up in the 90's today, but I've become acclimated, again. For some reason, the heat had been getting to me early in the summer, but not now. Anyway, I got out in the driveway this afternoon and re-installed the differential in my cheap MONSTER suburban 4 x4. Back in 1987, it was not a cheap vehicle, though. Mweeanwhile, I had been a little worried about my furry friend T Brown. He hasn't come around, the last few days. But at about half-past 8 this evening, while I was under my 'burban, he shows up. Well, that's good, because I was concerned about a cat that isn't mine, but comes by to have dinner. Earlier this week, I dosed him with some flea repellent, but he returned the next day or two and then was a no show for the last couple days. But, he didn't eat much, but got up on the 'burban and sprawled there for 45 minutes. Yup. Then, off to wherever he calls home. I think I'm gonna do some investigating, make some personal inquiries. Wish me luckk. Okay--tomorrow I'll put the axles in, the hubs on, and get started onm the calipers & hoses & master cylinder. I re-did the brakes, reaer and now front, because I want that thing to STOP, especially with a loaded trailer. Nooo, I'm not going on a 2000-mile round trip in it; are you kidding? It's going to stay local, within a 100-mile radius. Or less. Yup. I've got another burban almost like it, that I used to use, but am using for parts to fix this one up. One O' these days, I'll post a couple photos. You will love it, I'm just sure. Ha. Edited to add: I found a photo of a suburban like mine when it was newish--same color scheme, even. Just so you know what I'm working on. But yeah--mine is not as sharp as the one in the photo.4605

Wow, those are some expensive bikes! Very observant, RR! I'm glad you were able to discern the prices on those low-usage pre-owned bicycles. After all, why should the resources(lives & materiel) of actual Americans be regularly squandered to resolve international disputes around the globe? I've bought my last few bikes off of Craig's list. People buy a bike with good intentions and after a year of a few rides, it goes into the garage or basement unused. It helps to know your frame size and what your looking for. My favorite bike right now retailed for $2000 new and I paid $225. As a 1998 mountain bike it was outdated, but had been stored unused for 20 or so years and was pristine. I've usually replaced the tires and tubes immediately since I hate flats and they are an unknown. I can get the local bike shop to do a basic brake and shifter adjustment for free, but they usually find an odd or end to give them a little profit. I have a second bike that doesn't get used as much that is more of a road or touring bike. Similar deal, but newer, 2001.

Okay----last week I was in the dirt-cheap supermart, stocking up on cans o' mixed vegetables labeled under Zurras' cheapest brand. No jolly green libby monte the giant for meeee. Ha. Then, they had tuna fish(I guess that's what it is), for about the same price as catt food. Yup. Sio yeah--I stocked up on that, too. And brown gravy mix and stew seasoning, in those little packets, which okay--theoretically is not economical, but for me it is. And then, over about 4 miles away--there's aldi dry onion soup mix & boullion cubes, too. Can you see a recipe coming on here? I do it all just for the sake of you kids! No more left-over purree of roast duckling w/puree of eggplant, or whatever you kids eat. Ha. Anyway, drain the can o' tuna and vegetables into a saucepan, and mix in the cube & some onion soup & gravy mix, etc. Noooo, not the whole package, you fool! Those packages will last awhile. I put em in an empty wall maul instant coffee jar, to keep them ant-free. Ha. Okay--add some bottled water, just enough to reconstitute the soup, gravy mix, stirring constantly. Then, add the tuna(?) or whatever and the mixed vegetables(carrots, taters, green beans), and stir that up. Just to make it unhealthy(so it tastes good)I add butter. Give some butter to your cat, too. Maybe they will start obeying your commands, from now on. Ha. Just kidding. Anyway, it's a very wonderful dinner; wonderfull because it's relatively inexpensive. I guess I could just open the cans, and eat without heating the contents up. Yup. Hope that helps you some. Thankk mee.

Similar deal, but newer, 2001.Rogar, I second your opinion, But, yeah--frame size is critical, and yes we've seen some beautiful, dirt-cheap attic-finds we passed on, due to it being a 48 or a 62. That said--there is a variance between sizing from different manufacturers. I have several 56'es, an odd 57 or two(Trek went through an inches-to-cm change, apparently)and the Felt I just acquired is a 58. But, the felt is actually down there with my 56's. Very, very close. Even though a lot of people(non-riders) would wonder how I can ride a bike that BIG. S'why I figure the mfrs have lately built their consumer bikes with a down-sloping top tube; to make it more user-friendly. I tip my old road bike sideways at about a 45-degree angle to get on or off, or else stop next to a curb. Because, seated--my feet don't come close to the ground, like in the 1950's when I had a Schwinn. But yeah---used is the way to go. Figure on changing out some parts, to size it better, if you're particular, like meee. Yup.

Your can usually ride Craig's list bikes ro see if hey will be the right size, but yes, it's not perfect. There are adjustments and replacements for things like stem length and height, seats adjustments, etc. that can fudge the bike into a smaller or bigger size. I had a mountain bike a while back that was cheap, but never felt right. Fortunately it had already had the bulk of it's depreciation and I sold it at a small loss. Personal opinion, for a person's first bike I'd go to a bike shop, pay retail, and have it fitted by the experts, but I wouldn't spend a lot of money.

But, yeah---I wonder what the markup is on new bikes? Dealers have their expenses & all, so I don't fault them. They may save some consumers $$ by their guidance. I have looked up the suggested retail on my old bikes when they were new(and unmodified), and then plugged the list prices into an inflation calculator, just for fun. But, yeah--none of my old bike boutique bikes are factory spec'ed, so it's apples-to-oranges. I take great care about my deportment when entering the local bike shops, because they are well-known people, but at the same time I spend a VERY(xxx4) small part of my parts $$ there. EBay and other net venues are my sources. Plus, haven't bought a nice, new bike for over 35 years, either. So yeah--I'm not one of their preferred customers. There's this one spendy gal who rides literally 1000's of junk miles annually, about 35-40 years old, who purchased a customized high-end bike a year or two ago, and yeah---they put people like her on a pedestal. That's fine; I try to be low-profile. But, unfortunately for some reaso9n, I'm not. Ha. Thankk mee. Hope thatt helps you some.

It's sort of like shoes. They may fit in the store, but you never know until you've worn them a while. Yup. I mean--nope. But yeah--the local bike shops carry entry-level models in brands such as Giant and Kona. That is a good place for the novice rider to start, too. As for mee--I learn by my mistakes, because I'm a" tinkerer"(as they say). Funny you mention shoes---I'm not clothes horse, but shoes are the one thing that always takes me a lengthy process in getting them right. A matter of trial & error, and more trial & error. Yup. There's a well-known sporting goods place here that is a huuuge tourist draw, and they have a shoe store, as well. I got a gift certificate redeemable there, okay? Well, you have to pick out a model that is displayed in a glass case, and wait in line to tell the attendant what size/model you want, and sit-n-wait, while they go in the back room to bring out your size. Well, that process is super-inefficient, but I spose it's to curtail shoplifting. After a couple of try-ons, I asked if I could just redeem my gift card for cash(which they did), and went elsewhere to my usual store, Academy. The first store made the news yesterday, because they were the defendant in a lawsuit by a customer over "Lifetime guarantee socks". He had been exchanging worn-out socks for a number of times, but the company nipped that policy in the bud(like ol' Barn)---and got sued. Wow. They shoulda just stopped the policy, but quietly honored it in his case. How many pairs o' socks can you buy with what $$$ an hour of a good attorneys' time costs? See? In case you weren't aware--just 98% of Attorneys give the rest of them a bad name. Ha. Looks as tho vettanarians have caught on to that, too.
Yup. I mean--nope. But yeah--the local bike shops carry entry-level models in brands such as Giant and Kona.
The bike store near my house is a Specialized dealer, which is the brand I've mostly owned. Rough estimate would be that a quality entry level Specialized would run 7 or 8 hundred, although there's probably cheaper. These days that doesn't seem too out of line.

Okay---sounds real good. My bikes are what I prefer to call: "Exit Level". They were about to be dumpstered, but then some enterprising person thought they would give Eeeebay or Crapslist a try, to see if some fool like littlebittymee would buy it to COMPLETELY refurbish, in order to save $$$ compared to a nice, clean, shiny, safe, NEW bike that will keep a step ahead o' the jonses. Ha. I recall back in '13 or '14, riding my pieced-together 1987-model road bike(that the EBay seller described with: "lots of wear and tear on the paint" on the 1-day "Tour De Loco", and keeping ahead of another rider prolly 1/2 my age for at least 5 miles. But, he crept up on me slowly, and casually says: Is that bike your commuter?" and commented on the old, obsolete SunTour bar end shifters. Then, he rode on. But yeah, SunTour is like Studebaker-Packard or Hudson & Nash, see? I just did some renewing on that bike, last fall--nice used SR mountain-bike crankset w/Oval Tech chainrings from my source in Colorado(who saves that stuff from the dumpster); some Shimano pedals, and nice niew padded bar wreap and some cool Techtro brake levers($25).Plus, a shimano mountain bike derailleur, so it goes up to 9, with a wide-range cassette. See? Old MB drive train on an old Road Bike. It enables me on those rolling backroads they have here. But yeah--it meets my needs, just fine.
I put a set of 700-28 Continental tires on it, that I had lying around, and some nice, used weelz made by a companty owned by Campagnolo, from a bike shop employee. That's the one that gave me the flat tire due to a faulty rim strip, but that has been fixed by mee and the tube patched, by mee. See, the nearest bike shop is aways away, so yeah--I fix stuff at home.
Okay---sounds real good. My bikes are what I prefer to call: "Exit Level". ..
Good for you. I'm glad to hear someone helps keep decent bikes out of the landfill. Some time ago I bought an "exit" bike. It was a vintage specialized mtn bike and the frame had been broken and expertly welded with a nice battleship gray paint job. I had new wheels built by a friend who claimed to be an expert wheel builder and the rigid front fork replace with a Marzocchi Bomber shock. Of course new tires, tubes, chain, and brake pads. Everything else was decent but need cleaning and lubrications. In the end it was a pretty expensive bike, but I save a few things from the landfill. I rode the Kokopelli trail and the White Rim in Utah plus who knows how many thousand commuter miles. Eventually many of the replacement parts could only be found on eBay and were pricey. I can't remember what was the final straw, but I gave it to the local bike shop for parts that had a bike program for inner city kids. They seemed happy to get it.

Wow, Rogar---you're fortunate in one respect to be in Colorada, which has awesome & amayzeen outdoor recreational sites! I will research those trails! We havee biking trails made out of preserved RR right-of-ways. Of course--everyone KNOWS the land they encroach on should be returned to thwe rightful owners---Farmers! You kids thought I was gonna say indigenous people, right? Ha. Our nearby trail had an active shooter taking random shots at riders, a couple years ago. Turns out it was not a farmer, but a stray thug from KC or StLo, and he is behind bars. Yup. But, I am still an advocate of road riding. The Cool Kids here, who just HAVE to be trendy, will travel to the next county or even out-of-state to have events on "Gravel", which is fist-sized boulders punctuated by the periodic country boy in his diesel monster truck. That adds to the risk/fun. Ha. But yeah---orther than driveways & the RR trails and some parks, we haven't had a gravel road in this county for over 20 years. Nope. I like like to ride right out my door, up and back, and there are some nice low-traffic paved roads. Yup. It's just not trendy, enough, for The Cool People who have to have a fat-tired, $3000 plastic bike, so they can conform. Anyway---I was gifted a couple things by a garage cleaner-outer, whose alternative was to haul them across the scales as "loose tin". $60/ton. Anyway, one is a broken walk-behind weed-eater(awesome), and the other is a ca 1980-ish Spalging Blade Road bike, that someone attemted to make into a "Utility" bike, and gave up. It's serendipitous, because I have a set of bars/shifters lying out back that I was wondering what to do with. WELL---they'll be perfect for making a project Utility bike out of that Spalding. Which--for a department store bike of that era wasn't too awful bad. But yeah---I'ver got a bunch of take-off parts and extra stuff I can use to make the Spalding a rescue. Also, in that pile of junk was a 700c Bontragewer rear wheel, with an 8-speed cassette. I've got mismatched wheelsets I can use on the spalding. More on this, later. Thankk Mee.
Anymore I bike mostly out the front door. My area is pretty bike friendly with paths and bike lanes. I biked to work for years and now that I'm out of the work force I can still catch some errands by bike. I'm not interested in the more technical mtn biking, but it seems to be an attraction for the radical bunch. Truth be told, my bucket list has a rails to trails vacation some day. E-bikes are the new thing, but I don't see a lot of them around.
E-bikes are the new thing, but I don't see a lot of them around.I spent a week in Amish/Mennonite country in central/northern Ohio a few weeks ago. E-bikes seem to be the major means of transport there. The juxtaposition of e-bikes and horse drawn buggies was interesting.

Okay---EBikes---the kind that have an electric motor to supplement weak legs, are taboo, in my littlebitty world. See? That's why I have converted two former racing bikes to what I call: MEBikes, that have rear gears that go up to 11, off of current gravel/mountain bikes. But they are still entirely self-powererd. That, is all the advanced technology I need or want. EBikes, are just another excess, another consumer good that they've decided you need. They--the marketing masters, beat a path to the door of bureaucrats and state legislators, to slyly get those things classified as "bicycles" and not motor bikes, to make an end-run around regulations. . See? They are no more a "bicycle" than Kris Kristofferson is a good singer. Ha. Hope that helps you some. The city of Denver (not where I live) is offering up to a 1200 dollar rebate incentive for eBike purchases as part of their clean air program. It's been very popular. If it actually helps with air pollution, I'm all for it, but I consider them a safety hazard in the big city. Already the news says there are not enough safe bike lanes for them.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JSjBYo_BVvE Yup. Okay--Here's something else for you kids: It's a group or whatever about The Joy of Mowing. Yup. They had an obit about a farmer who, after a hard days' work driving a monster combine up-and-down and driving his ENORMOUS monster truck to town to shop-n-trade(get screwed) for a nice, new TRUCK on sale for just $68,995($6,995 off sticker price), and of course taking his lovely wife out to that place they heard about 75 miles away for a GIANT pork T sammmich, He finally gets to DRIVE his twin-stick JD riding mower(it's perfessional grade)up and-down-and-back-and-forth until all 5 acres of their lawn is mowed. Okay---I came up with the best possible solution to you kidses' favorite social prollem. That way, you can quit wasting so much time discussing it here. Yup. See---what they need to do is enact public policy that provides FREE abortions to ALL registered demmacrats, upon demand. Even provide them to certain demmacrats who don't request them. See? Then, repubblicans will be prohibited from having one. In fact, make abortions by a repubblican a capital crime! Killing a child will bring swift justice--just like the Greenlease Kidnappers and the Lindberg Kidnapper, too! Send a message that Killing is WRONG! Anyway, this will address the need for cradle-to-grave free everything that demmacratz have, and it will address the bloodlust that those religionists & neocons with their crucifixes have, too. All biographical/historicaL in subject matter. Supposedly non-fiction, as well. One book was about President Carter, who is a very great american---at least, compared to mee. Okay, another book is about General Patton(but, really-an overview of the Battle of the Bulge, in WW2. Another is supposed to be about JFK, but I haven't even read it. And then--another book was about Adolf Hitler. I haven't turned page one, on it either. Just judged it by it's cover. Yup Okay----I was gonna ask you kids to match the book price with the subject of the book, but I don't wanna distract you from that row or wade debacle. But yeah--I wear a mask at night for one reason: to reduce throat irritation and coughing, due to fans running & causing my throat & sinuses to dry out and become sore and also to prevent inhaling airborne particles, such as cat fur, which cause coughing fits. See? I know that some people like to suggest simplistic, toss-the-baby-with-the-bathwater solutions, such as turn off all fans and rehome those damn cats. Yup. But, that is not a viable option, for mee. So, I wear a mask, and sometimes have to reposition it during the night, if it slips off. See? Hope that helps you some. Okay---Here's a delightful story for you kids. A facebooker out in Co. has a disassembled Studebaker V8 he is selling in bits n pieces. I already bought one cardboard box full, and am sending him more cash for more "stuff" from that old car motor. The parts are greasy, grimy, dirty & dusty, but not too rusty. But, yeah--it is things I would like to keep on hand. I can probably use them, for a project. Since I've about cleared out my file cabinet drawers containing parts from my disassembled suburban, I can just stash the studey parts in them. See? You can't just go down to the mall or big box, and pick out nice, new, CLEAN and shiny Studebaker engine parts, that's for sure! Ha. So yeah--it is prudent that I acquire these. Yup. 8-7-22, 11:35pm
Okay---I got out there in the 90+, and put the tie rod & steering stabilizer on. The tie rod is oh, about 4 feet long, with theball ends that screw in at each end. One side has left-hand threads, and you have jam nuts. This is so you can adjust the toe-in. Then, theres a tapered hole in the left rod end to hold the steering stabilizer, and the other end of the stabilizer attached to the crossmember(frame). See--it's like a shock absorber, so that with this type of steering, it reduces bump steer. But see--the previous owner had run this suburban into stationary objects--tree & rocks---and the tie rod had a bend in it. Well, I took a heavy piece of rusty rectangular tubing that I had lying around for YEARS, cluttering up the place and lowering property values, ran a tow chain through it and set a floor jack on the tubing and then fastened the chain to the tie rod, with it set on the saddle of the jack, and used the hydraulic jack to straighten the tie rod out. I have an aluminum straight edge that I bought on-sale at the nearby big box, that comes in handy for gauging straightness. See? So, I screwed the nice, new and GREASY tie rod ends into the tie rod, and wire brushed it and painted it and installed it, then, put the stabilizer on. I was one 7/16 nf nut short to hold the stabilizer on, but I went out back in my collection of 40 years worth of used, salvage automotive hardware, and found a nut. See? Saved a trip to get one; no small thing because traffic is murder & bidengas is expensive. So, I put in zero miles, today. Then, I ended up hunting for an hour for the brake caliper rebuild kits & the brakes hoses. I could have sworn I bought them, but they weren't in my file cabinets and I looked through the suburban, to see if they were there. Nope. Well, the previous owner told me he had put new brake pads on the front, and they were still out there, lying on the ground. I wheeled them to clean them up, and painted the bare metal with some black bbq paint. Will re-use, as is. But, I'm missing the caliper bolts! I know they are around here; it's a matter of locating them. As it started to get dark, I finally located the nice, clean, safe NEW brake hoses and caliper kits! They were in the back of the suburban, next to my box of AT fluid. See--to use the time productively while I contemplated having to buy new brake hoses & cal kits($50), I added 4 quarts of type F fluid to the trans. See--I had dropeed the pan on it last fall & changed the filter and installed a drain plug in the pan, so it was low on fluid. But yeah---adding Type F(specified for old, old, Fords) is a hot rodders' trick. It has friction additives that firm up the shifts on those too-smooth GM transmissions, so the clutches will last longer. Supposedly, anyway. So, anyway--tomorrow I will finish up the front brakes and start the engine and top off the trans fluid. Did I tell you kids I found the original window sticker?? 35 years ago, the msrp was close to $25,000, for this loaded Suburban 4x4. How do you like that? Will keep you kids informed on further progress. Also, here's a bonus photo of a I-wah 2018 Suburban for sale, with just 95,000 miles on it! It was ONLY used to drive-n-eat. Comfort galore, for fat old geezers. That's why they ONLY want $24,000 for 'er. Plus, you gotta pay sales tax & take out a loan, too. Plus, carry FULL coverage ins. Ha. Yup. 468246814681

But yeah---this cat is entertaining because he ambles at such a casual pace, and has such a meek little meow. He is in good condition. The other day, the two old girls were having supper, and they swatted him away. So, I waited until they were finished to give him his portion. Sometimes this cat will eat, mark his spot, and wander off to ???? Other times, he will climb up on my Suburban or Hund-eye, and lounge on the roof for up to an hour, before leaving. Yup. This cat was raised with dogs.
It is my dog I’m worried about. Most bulldogs are calm with other animals and are not prey driven. But our dog is stupidly excitable about little animals. He cornered an opossum a few months ago, but DH said all he did was mouth the opossum a few times, he didn’t try to kill it. So that’s positive.
This cat has claws so he will need to hit the bulldog a couple of times with those sharp claws.

OK---I have a 66 Chevy I've had for um, 37 years. I don't drive it anywhere. I'm getting ready to update and upgrade it. Its sat inside in the same spot for many years. The paint is starting to get rusty spots, but not through, like salt rust in upper midwest cars. But yeah--I amuse myself working on the various coimponents. I'm in no hurry. Gas is expensive, traffic is murder, and so on. But, I've mentioned the stereotypical "Car Jock". What is it? Someone who derives ALL their fun from just gettibng ouyt there and DRIVING. They drive & eat, and drive home. One of my case studies involves a car jock who very recently purchased a very nice 66 Chevy, at a car dealership prolly 400 miles from his home! He's VERY proud of it, and has already started cruising it to car cruises, to show it off. This is not uncommon in I-wah, for spendy people to acquire a turnkey build. That way, they don't have to spend years getting dirty, rebuilding an old clunker, with car parts cluttering up their place and lowering property values. See? Anyway, I found a snapshot of that car being advertised by the dealer he purchased it from. Hope that helps you some. Sign on the dotted line, make your monthly payments, and drive-n-eat. The car jock lifestyle. Yup.4688

Okay--yesterday, I worked at a cats' pace. Ha. Casually & deliberately. Anyway, I am waiting on the adjustment sleeve for the drag link; I already have nice, clean safe, NEW ends, but needed the adjustment sleeve. I try 'n buy local, but Big O wanted well over $20 for one, and so I purchased one online for around $6, incl. shipping. Just gotta wait awhile. Also, I initially went local on a set of perfessional-grade R12 gauge to R134a port adaptors; $85! Nope. Online, a set for semi-pro grade adaptors: $10. So, I'm waiting on those, too. The guy I'm getting my assortment of studebaker engine "stuff" from is figuring what it will cost to ship the rest of the stuff, including the camshaft. I already have the followers and pushrods that he shipped, already. There are several places in the country where you can send camshafts & followers(lifters)to be re-profiled. This is essential part of refurbishing a Stude engine. Do you kids have a particular machine shop cam regrinding service you can recommend? But anyway, yeah---I re-adjusted the steering gear on my Suburban project, to remove some play, in it. Though some people just adjust the one on top, which snugs up the gear sector, there is another adjustment most people neglect, which removes play from the worm gear shaft. Yup. So, I did that, accordingly. Then, pulled the old master cylinder, so I can replace it, this afternoon. OPlus, I will pull the calipers & replace the seals and hoses and wire brush the steel lines & paint them. It's making progress. I may start the engine, so I can top off the transmission. Plus, some other stuff. I guess I coulda just drove to a nice, clean car dealership, picked out a clean late-model for $29,999, signed on the dotted line, and stopped for some yummy restaurant food, on the way home. 4690Okay---Guess what? Dodge builds tough trucks. Yup. A young boy been sitting 3 years in a New Hampshire jail was found Not Guilty of murdering 7 Bikers in a collision with the Dodge Truck he was driving. See---the crash expert for the defense had determined what REALLY happened was that the lead motorcyclist had crossed the centerline on a curve, into the path of the Dodge truck the kid was driving darn close to the centerline, pulling an unloaded flatbed gooseneck trailer. Yup. The murdercyle impact caused the left front weel(of the Dodge) to cock sharply, and the truck to jacknife and veer into the oncoming lane, and strike the other motorcylists following closely behind, one by one. It happened quicky, and I suppose you cannot casually judge the accident photos and assess what happened. The Media wanted SO badly for the Mob Mentality to prevail in favor of a conviction for the cold-blooded murder of them motorcyclists, by an immigrant punk on drugs who shouldn't have been driving. But yeah---reality is, you've gotta believe the science, and not the politics. I guess. Here's a photo of the crash scene. There's now a memorial further down the road, at the tourist motel where the motorcyclists were staying. Yup.

Okay---Looky here---the cabins where the Jarheads were staying, on their consumcation. That's a new word combining consume with vacation. See? Fatsos Riding flashy, 1,000 lb murdwercycles in a group just to drive-n-eat, for something to "do" is comsumpcation, according to mee. One of the riders testified that at the time of the crash, he weighed 370 pounds. But he said he has lost some weight, since then. They called him "Big Mac". One of the two wimmin killed(passengers on the murdercycles) had recently lost 125 pounds! . Yup. Anyway, the consumpcation resort cabins is near, but not at, the actual crash site. But, there is a memorial to "The Fallen Seven" at the cabins, which is I suppose a tourist draw. The Bikers held their last keg party, there, before setting out on their murdercycles in close formation, with their leader-of-the-pack legally drunk, at the time. Yup. The attorneys for the defense have pointed out that the members of the club were all former Marines, and a tight-knit, bonded group, who took an oath of loyalty to the club, upon joining. Yup. Anyway, it's interesting. Do those cabins look like tiny houses, to you kids?4718

But yeah---would you classify the home directly across from the scene of the Jarheads crash that left 7 dead, to be stigmatized? I mean--say you lived there--- would it creep you out, to look out your front window in the darkness at that spot? Just curious. 4720

It would not creep me out. Thanks for the input, R/R. I guess I'll cancel my plan to acquire the property, and set up a "Fallen Seven" B-n-B, that is reputedly haunted. There are numerous touristy drive-n-eat destinations around the country that use this marketing approach, to draw patrons. So, I figured I'd give it a shot. But yeah---I'm sitting here, working on my Suburban Monster truck project, & catering to catts, and awaiting the outcome of Vuhkovskys immigration hearing. See---he's not a citizen, but he's been residing in the USA since he was 10 years old, and now faces possible deportation to his native country, that is currently engaged in a war. Hopefully, someone---some skilled, unbiased investigative journalist---will follow this and write a thoughtful and thorough account of the whole incident, and the circumstances. It's not your usual traffic accident. Thing is, S King can make millions writing pulp trash; but doing justice to the subject of this crash would probably be a losing proposition. Yup.

This is better than someone spending a small fortune on it, resulting in a car jock who DRIVES all over I-wah or wherever, to meet-n-eat with other consumers. It also saves the environment. See? Okay---after the merger in '54(with Nash), the new company called itself "American Motors". Kind of a forewarning of things yet to come. But yeah---for '55, Hudsons shared bodies with Nashes, through 57, which was the last year for both brands. From then onb, they were Ramblers. Yup. Some collectors call the hybrid Hudsons "Hashes". Ha. You could still get a Hudson-built engine in a Hash for awhile, and even a Packard V8! But AMC came up with it's own proprietary V8 for '57. Now you know. Hope that helps you some. But no, there weren't no Hashes this year that I saw, at the annual swap meet. See, I didn't stay too long; I bought some aluminum window sashes pretty cheap. They are missing the screens, however; a BIG deficiency when you live in Zurra. But the price was right, and I'll figure something out. Plus, I ran out'a money, on account of my deal with the guy out in Co. who was parting out a Studebaker V8 that had some good pieces I really needed for my project. Yup.

Fingers crossed for little Volodymyr! THYVM, RR & JV. This morning, I peeked through the blinds, and he was sitting on the porch, waiting for breakfast. But, yeah--he ran when I set some cat food out. Then, returned when I went inside. I let the old girls outside, and the kitten followed them around, but they weren't too interested. They did finish off the food the kitten left. He sat on the front porch, but eluded me in several tries. Finally, I put more food out, and he followed one of the old girls up to investigate. I decided he was approximately 98% ready to be captured, so I grabbed his tail, then by the scruff of his neck. I required first aid, due to being scratched while restraining him. That's what happens when you scare a catt, but it was necessary. So, he's in the spare bedroom, for now, with a food dish and out of harms way. How he made it for at least a month, I don't know. I just assume he's a hardy specimen. But yeah---it's good I got him caught. I believe he'll adjust, pretty soon. But, I gotta get some flea junk on him, asap.
I follow some feral rescues, and have learned that kittens in the wild often have ringworm, which you can see with a black light. And a bath is probably in order. Good luck!

So, I may go to the nearby pett supply boutique and get some canned Science diet, to fatten him upp. There's a party over by the new freeway, near the coal-fired powerplant that generates the electricity for all the demmmacrats' favorite kinda car, and they have a sign out front that says: "Rabbits For Sale---Meat or Pets". So, yeah---it's kind of like Al Capp and his schmoos, from years ago. But see, catts require very expensive food, and if you fatten them up, that's what you get--fat. well Bobby, he’s just a little cat and I am many years away from knowing how to dose cats because I haven’t had any cats for two years, and all my other cats for a decade prior were indoor cats so never had creatures living on them. My cat population will not be so large that I need to be performing my own veterinary procedures. I may get one more cat, we shall see.
Mainly I wanted to start out with a cat that was confident and well tested with dogs because I didn’t know how my bulldog would act. Even though bulldogs are not normally Prey driven, my current bulldog is kind of weird about little animals, he’s fascinated with them, and he had a couple of run ins with an opossum.
But he has been good with the cat, and the cat is of course confident with the bulldog because that’s what cats are.

Awww... such a cutie! You are taking such good care of her!
Yes, IL, cats and dogs are so interesting together. My sister’s long ago cats were not pleased when they all moved in with my sister’s fiancé and dog (half rott/half shepherd). She was very protective but also very sweet once you were part of the pack. Every time I went to visit she’d be so excited she would run and get her favorite toy and as soon as I sat down she would plop it in my lap. She was too barky and big for the cats so one of them established a ‘three foot rule’ lashing out at her anytime she got closer to any of them. It took about a month but eventually she grudgingly accepted that she wasn’t going to get to be friends with any of them. Years later, when she died, the cat that established the 3 foot rule mourned her for a good amount of time, going to all her favorite spots and sniffing for her and then settling in to chill in them. (Or who knows, maybe he was thrilled that she was finally gone and was re-establishing cat-scent in those spots to finally rid the house of her altogether…)

I don’t think my bulldog has lived with cats before because when William started head butting in affection to the dog, my dog backed up In fear with a look on his face as if saying that was the weirdest thing he’s ever seen. And then the other day when the cat was rubbing all against him, our bulldog backed up then too, thinking that was a very weird thing to do.
I bet he'll be up to speed in interspecies displays of affection in no time--it sounds like a match made in heaven to me.

Police chases are often ill-considered. Innocent parties and/or their property can be affected. IMO, they should only be done when the fleeing party represents a real danger to the public, not when they have an expired license or an outstanding fine or something.

Okay----Hamilton Beach microwaves. Sold at bare walls mart, aka a taste of moscow. Where retail meets social activism(aerosol paint that USED to be $5 a can is now $10, in just a few short months). But yeah---that microwave. This is the 2nd from BWM that I've had that after two years, developed two problems. The first one, I junked. But, the second one, I fixed. First of all, I used these microwaves way too much. They are not perfessional grade, like my 77 GMC, which is still in service after 45 years. So---I will cut back on use. But, what the two overuse problems were is the paint was peeling off the interior of the oven, especially near the door. And second, the oven would not run unless you banged the door shut and held it there, while it cooked. A time waster, for sure. I have other stuff I can waste time on, already. Anyway, I finally took the oven outside and pullled the top/side cover off, to investigate. Don't go poking around in there, as I've heard there may be residual high voltage in there. Not sure if that's true, but I don't encourage anyone to find out the hard way. Ha. But yeah---it isn't necessarily the door switch that is faulty. On mine, the switch--the upper door switch---was fine. It just wasn't engaging properly with that plastic finger that latches the door shut. My guess is with the high heat generated from hard use causes the plastic and metal cabinet and door to distort and warp just a littlebittybit; just enough to keep the upper finger from touching the door switch. So, to make a long story short, what I did was take a three-cornered file, and file down the top of the (plastic) ramp just inside the hole that the latching finger engages with. It won't take much, so check it often as you proceed. This will let the latch finger drop just enough to properly engage the door switch. Nothing more. So---I put the cover back on, and used vinegar to scrub 'er down inside and out, and especially the interior. Then, wiped the interior down with brake clean. Then, wire-wheeled the peeeling paint with a drill and wire wheel. Then used some sandpaper to scuff er up, inside. Then cleaned er again. Let er dry, then used bare walls mart rustoleum paint w/ primer in a thin coat on the metal interior(just the top and floor and inside around the door. This part takes skill, BTW. Don't try this if you have no skill. After you've done your paint job---don't use the oven for a month or more. That aerosol enamel takes that long to really cure out. But yeah---set your oven back inside while the thing is curing. After a month, plug 'er in, and let 'er rip. Just don't be using the darn thing to cook casseroles and stuff that requires long periods of high heat. Cheap ovens like that are best used for popping popcorn or reheating stuff that has already been cooked. If you went out and bought a nice, clean NEW oven already, you could use the old, repaired one in a rec room or shop as a secondary unit. Your call. Now you know. Hope that helps you some. If you have any questions, too bad. Ha. That's your problem. But yeah---thank mee.

Well, wouldn't you? Not as a fixer-upper, but as a centerpiece in like--- a Touristy place located near an intersection of major highways. Like near Bondurant, I-wah. You could buy an old house to remodel, then put in a restaurant & gift shop, and have the wrecked car on display in a glass enclosure! Maybe even sell flowers for the tourists to place at this shrine. Wouldn't that be cool? People would DRIVE from miles around, to EAT at your restaurant/museum, and gawk at the car, murmuring tsk, tsk. Okay----Yes, Yes, of course, RR! Lots and lots of photos. I will post them, as time goes on. But yeah---speaking of photos, I'm in the process of setting up security cams on the property, to protect my investments. As you already know, crime--property theft---runs rampant here. I intend to curb the epidemic. Anyway, here's a few design ideas I got off the 'net. I figured I'd submit a couple for your perusal. Yup. Thankk Mee.48344835

The first one looks very cozy.Yes, Cozy is one of the key elements. That's why, for the Family Room Area, I'm bringing the attic insulation up to R-38 specs. Yup. That way, it's nice n' cozy. Yes, the other areas will have somewhat less insulation, but I don't intend to heat it/cool it, round the clock. See?

Okay---Cat Update. You remember that kitten that was at-large on the property for a whole month, before I could gain her confidence, grab her & get her inside the confines of the house, so I could socialize her & fatten her up? Well, initially---she hid. Then after a week, she was approachable. I'd pick her up and give her some catts' attention. But, one Saturday morning, I was in a hurry, and I picked her up in haste, and this other girl kitty was annoyed, and she bit the baby on the leg, and the baby then bit n' scratched me, in a mistsaken case of self-defense. This all happened in a heartbeat. So, what happened was, the baby went into feral mode again, and eluded capture in the house for several more weeks, only coming out for food at a distance. See? But I figured: start over, let her get over it, just as I will get over the scratches on my hand. But yeah---the last few days, she has been not only eating well, but soliciting attention from littlebittymee! Aren't I lucky? Thing is--I have cause for some concern, because she is not growing much. I've got the nutri-cal supplement, and I mix it with canned, so she'll get max calories & get in condition. I plan to enter her in the Annual HBCC catt show, as a contender in the Rescued Feral Kitten Category. Yup. I'll post another photo, pretty soon. Thankk Mee. Edited to add: Catts, are like demmacratz; they think they want freedom, but really---truth be known---they want and need to be catered to, from cradle-to-grave.

Okay---Another addendum to what I've discussed before. I'm including an old photos of two girls being photographed with Justin of the Moody Blues, a British Prog Rock group of the late-60's-early 70's, and fairly successful. You kids don't remember them---you're all waaaay too young! Ha. But anyways---their music sounded pretty good on the stereo, playing studio-produced music, while you partied and spaced out. Yup. But see---the girl on the left in the photo was a fanatic about this band, and even went so far as to waste time and money on a ticket to one or more of their concerts! Look at her immodest groupie bare midriff, and her loony demeanor! She made a lot of bad decisions in her life, and the sad fact is--she died young---and fat, as well. Anyway--I greatly prefer studio arranged & recorded music, and spare myself the ticket prices, driving and crowds. Hope that helps you some. Thankk mee.4841

I never cared for the Moody Blues. I always thought they sounded kind of whiny and moaning. I guess their name suited them well. "Nights in White Satin" is the worst.

Loved the Moody Blues. Attended one of their concerts back in the 70's.

9-18-22, 1:26am
Okay---RE: Moody Blues. Guess what? I see their talents as being strictly limited to a studio-produced music group. They're not the only ones; I've viewed numerous videos of various rock acts, where their music--even on a cheesy old 45 rpm record, sounds vastly better than live recordings of concert appearances! That concert thing is a whole different animal; almost a syndrome, if you ask me. After all, 'Fan" is derived from the word "fanatic", isn't it? But yeah---here's another littlebitty factoid: The Story In Your Eyes", is a 3-minute ditty. The first two minutes are really very fine. But, the last minute is extremely lame. Just racket. Like filler material. Generic noise. See? It wrecks it, for me. But, they extend that part of the song at concerts! See? Hope that helps you some. Thankk Mee very much.

Okay----I know you kids are sitting there, watching made-for-TV mooo-Vees on the Lifetime channel, thinking that it's past time I posted some photos of my restoration project of my littlebitty backyard cottage. See--it will have some areas for my laboratory for brilliant(by 18th-century standards)engineering projects, and also additional living space for me & the catts. So yeah---It will have a large outdoor enclosure for them to roam like wild tigers, yet be safe and sound. Yup. But yeah---I've chosen the paint colors, I've chosen the exterior siding, and the color of the roofing materials. I acquired the carpeting several years ago, while driving past an ongoing office remodel on a weekend, and found some very nice pieces in the dumpster. Yup. Also, I've done a little concrete work, here and there. But, sorry---I won't be posting any photos just YET. I want it to be a surprise. Plus, I'm extremely short of time; running up and down a ladder all day, sawing boards, and so on. Hope that helps you some. Thankk mee.

You are making an outdoor cat run? That will be nice for the cats.
Will your dogs bother them?
last night in the middle of the night our cat knocked everything off the fireplace mantle and made a huge racket which caused tons of barking. I was not at home I was in the city. Apparently a vote was taken in this house to send the cat to the garage to sleep at night due to this disruption, But because a vote to banish a household member has to be unanimous of three, the cat is not banished because I wasn’t there for the vote. When I got home I said I will not vote that way. He’s a cat and cats just misbehave, that’s who they are.

Okay---Right on, Lily! Irregardless of what they say, Catts can and do make good petts. See, I just got back online, after searching the how-to correct the provblem iof the text on your 'puter screen being at 90 degrees. See---catts jumped on it last evening--the keyboard--while I was listening to a collection of pipe organ tunes. But yeah--you have to press alt *& ctrl at the same time, and use the arrow key that points up. See? It's not realistic to believe you can have stuff on a mantle or countertop; catts will knock it off when you least expect it. But, I do have two giant dog crates stacked & set on a large HF furniture dolly, wirh litter pans & carboard boxes with towels and dishes, so if a particular cat needs a place to be by itself for awhile, that works well. Not like I keep 'em there long term. But yeah---having an ourdoor yard that is cat-proof is on the agenda. After all, if I can keep Huskees(one of the top stray-prone doggs) in spacious dog yards, It will be possible for catts. Hope that helps you some.4847

Okay----Just wanted to warn you kids that these corny Americana "music" geezers will be appearing LIVE and in concert, at the old restored mooo-vvveee theater downtowm. Yup. Okay--Here's a photo of a stripped car body---a 61 Plymouth---driven by Lee Petty at Daytona, back in 1961. But see--he and his nemesis, Johnny Beauchamp, from Iwah, collided at speed and went into the guard rail and airborne over the high embankment. Petty was seriously injured, and both cars demolished. But yeah---apperently, the 61 Plymouth is on display, somewhere. See photo. Hope that helps you some.48544854

Okay---Hate to butt in on summa your other topics, but mine is VERY important. After my little feral yard kitten got over the incident of 3 or 4 weeks ago, and she was friends again, I did what I had intended to do, and that is to place her in a large dogg crate with her own box & water and food dish. See--like I said, she was a little thin, and not gaining. So, this way I can keep her dish full without another older cat cleaning it out. See? Well, it is working; she's already looking better. But, I am concerned that she doesn't have her littermates to play with, like my other kittens did. That seemed to help their development. Yup. But yeah---I'll see what else I can do.

Okay---yeah, what I'm doing is keeping the little bitty kitty crated, and feeding her and giving her attention every few hours. She seems to be responding. Several years ago, I was given a kitten <8 weeks that had been dropped off in a rest-o-rant parkin' lot, and one oi' the employees picked er up, and asked me to take er, since she was in a no-pets apartment. Well, I took that cat home, and plopped her down with a bunch of old cats, and other than a temporary flea problem, she's done well. But, yeah---this one needs extra work. But--she lived off the land, as a stray for a whole month, so she is tough enough. Strange. Anyway, I've got to check on 'er, right now.

Okay---More depressing news: I have not seen my step-cat, the Brown Tabby Male that used to come around almost every night at supper time. As I said, sometimes he eat a lot, other times, not more thsan a bite. He'd usually lounge around for awhile, then wander off. I never could figure out if he had a home; he wasn't inclined to stay here, for long. He surely wasn't feral. I called the neighbor who lives-- well---nearby. He said they had had a LOT of cats dumped by their place, and they put food out for them but didn't consider them their pets. Hmmm. He said the description of Mr T Brown did not fit any that they'd been feeding. Hmmm. But yeah--T Brown has apparently vanished, after months of catering to him. When he first came around, he was very wary. But, he became friendly. Anyway, there goes another one.n I don't think having an outdoor catt that roams is a good thing. Thatt's why--I'm gonna construct an outdoor cat yard, that willl keep them safe. Yup.

I'm sorry to hear about Mr. T Brown. I agree that outdoor living is not good for cats. Their hunting instincts lead them to decimate the local wildlife populations, and they in turn are too often meals for coyotes, not to mention the danger of cars.

Okay----Guess what? I opened the front door, and saw my two old girl cats on the porch & anmother catt---that just happened to bee T. Brown! Yup. Well, IO closed the door to go grab a can o' kitty yum-yums, and went back out, and set the yums down, and the two old girls & T Brown begin their yummy catt supper. Well, the old girls began eating, but T. Brown just sniffed at it, while I gave him a cats' pat. But he didn't join in the feast. He's looking pretty good & well nourished. He didn't stay for more'n a couple minutes; just wandered off toward the west. As I said before, I have no clue where he calls home. He's almost like a Ghost Catt. Once he leaves my place, he just seems to vanish. But, I'm glad to know he's still around. Hope that helps you some, too.

Okay---am making progress on my rehab of my backyard cottage. But, stopped for several days. Resumed by cleaning up debris from tear-offs. Each week, my garbage cart is full of debris. But yeah--I still have work to do on closing it up, to keep out weather when rain comes. Also, some of everything else. Yup. Also, I pieced together a usable front chrome bumper with guards, using parts from a wreckin' yard bumper that was damaged and the guards and brackets from my old bumper. Not new, but good enough. See--the prior owner of my Burban had run into trees and stumps, etc., on his acreage. So yeah---it will be lots better than before. Not new, but serviceable. Hope that helps you some.4865

Okay---Remember the kitten that apparently was dumped here, last summer? She was at-large for a full month, and evaded me until she finally let me catch her, when she came to the porch to eat. She was very thin, for awhile. After I caught her, I put her in the spare room, and she was still very skittish and shy, but I finally caught her again and placed her in a large dog crate, so I could feed her more, with having to compete with the other cat. Fast forward, and she's gained a lot of weight, and she is now my little buddy. Yup. I take her out of the crate after I feed her, and let her explore and play. But yeah---it is quite a change from her former ways. I've got a syringe & vaccine; just waiting to get her fully confident, before I jab her with it. But yeah--She's evidently one hardy cat by nature, based on her survival outside like that. Hope that helps you kids some. Thank mee. See Photo.4872

Okay---had to make provision for an outdoor security light on my BY Cottage. See--it had a porch light fixture next to the entrance, but the incandescent bulbs would not last, due to the door opening and closing, I guess. So, I removed the light altogether, and ran cable from the switch up into the front gable of the cottage, to control the security light. This involved getting up on a ladder, drilling the hole with a hole saw & feeeding the cable through, etc.,etc. Simple, but time-consuming. Wish me luckk. Hope that helps you some.

I'm glad you were able to win her over and fatten her up. Good luck on the ladder! TYVM, RR. Catts are VERY valuable. It is no wonder those anccient 'Gyptshians worshipped them. Whatt people should do, for sommething to acttually "do" is stay home and cater to their catts and doggs and other petts, instead of all this getting behind the wheel and piling up miles or sitting on an airliner or wasting money on rest-o-rant meals and concert tickicks. okay---I did some painting on my backyard cottage. The wood is unprimed and weathered. The wood just absorbs the paintl that is to be expected. Thing is, I'm working with a finite quantity of bargain-table big box paint. Soi, I don'tr want to run out. Nope. Also, my dropped-off former feral is in good shape, and has a BIG appetite, and will resort to domestic abuse, to get her way., So yeah--you gotta meet her demands, to keep the peace. Okay--Between other projects, I been thinking about starting up the real, true western religion. Actually, I already have, but noone has joined, though there are millions out there who would if it caught on. I've looked the situation over, but not gotten so in-depth that I can't see the forest because of the trees. See? That's what happens when you get TOO educated. But yeah--My new western religion would simply bypass Jesus as the son of God, and be more realistic: recognize him as a notable and mythical person who really represents a movement within the eastern Roman Empire. We'll see him as a saint, okay? Just to keep in good standing as a sect, not an Enemy of XChristianity. See? Jesus can be a saint; I'm fine with that. But yeah--I looked at being a Muslim, I looked at being a Jew. But see---I cannot be either,by birthright or by nature. NJope. Plus--Ztianity is very repellent to mwee, for numerous reasons. It is very flawed. And Evangelists and preachers just regurgitate platitudes and double-talk. I can't stand church. To be continued. Thankjk Mee.

Okay---Saturday, I gave 3 catts vaccinations. I'd had the vacine in the refrigerator for a week, since I wanted to be sure two of the catts were emotionally stabil enough to tolerate being inoculated with a hypodermic syringe. But yeah---it went okay, though they all have tough hides. I did keep track of them, to make sure they weren't ill. They did rest more than usual, for the next day, but were back to normal, again.
