My morning news says that Trump plans to fire 65% of the EPA and possibly 40% of the Fish and Wildlife Dept. There may be some waste in every government department, but that's' just very sad and will not come without a loss of intrinsic national value.

I could see cutting back on the payrolls and benefits of Congress as they appear to just be doing what ever Trump says.

Edit to add a link to an op-ed article by Bill Reilly who was head of the EPA under four presidents from both sides of the aisle. I'm anticipating taking a news-cation for a couple of days. This is just disturbing.

It is part of his plan to sell off public lands. First he wrecks it, then he sells it off. He is doing this with every aspect of government.

I spoke to Astrid in Vienna yesterday. My family in Austria is VERY relieved that I am at least slowly starting the process of leaving the United States. As her husband (who has relatives in England, point being his English is probably better than mine) said to me - What is there to gain by staying in the United States? What purpose is served?

Very wise words as far as I am concerned. I pass these words on to you - if for no other reason, this is reality for most of us in the United States. Exactly what is gained, what purpose is served by remaining in the United States at this point, given the givens of what this administration is all about/what they are doing on a daily basis? I'm nothing but someone else seeking out, you needn't answer to me - you should be answering this one to yourselves. Rob

Ok, you forced me to complete the cumbersome Substack registration process. God that was annoying. But I had been meaning to do it for past several days after giving up in frustration last week.

Anyway, before I read the piece about Golden Donald I ran across this little ditty from Richard Dawkins:

In my opinion Donald Trump is a loathsome individual, utterly unfit to be President, but his statement that “sex is determined at conception and is based on the size of the gamete that the resulting individual will produce” is accurate in every particular, perhaps the only true statement he ever made.

Wow, what a great article, and what comments! I particularly liked the juxtaposition of the quotations.

It also made me realize I have to pray and pray to not become the evil that I am witnessing, as I am so angry about what I am seeing.
