Okay---here's a couple classic cases of hoarding obsolete old stuff that is not being used by anyone. Some of youwillbe outraged and upsetbythis horror story. Yup. Okay---in the 40's,beforewe got tangled upin that big war The Good Guys started(our "allies"ha---england & russia), an auto manufacturer ceased production of new cars. They had a large inventoryof spare parts---and they were sold auction to some guy(not gonna research his name) and shortstory long, he held onto the parts for sseveraldecades. Then, sold theminto a Guy in Okelhoma who already HAD a nice, steady job as a school teacher. Prolly had bennies & a pension, too! But the school teacher trucked ALL those dusty, rusty old parts ALL the way backfrom the Rust Belt to Okelhoma, and stored themin an old building he had bought. It was organized, but only to a degree. Then, the guy set about assembling the parts into the cars they were made for!! He did that for quite awhile, and thereafter, started selling the parts to people whoneeded them, for the cars originally made backin the 30's. Yup. But,not a lot, since they were a fairly low-volume outfit, during the Great Depression. Which make me ask a rhetorical quesssion: IF the country was broke during the Great Depression, how'd "We" mobilize millions into a fighting force to help "The Good Guys"(Russia, who controlled Eurasia, and England, who controlledland on every inhabited continent. ), and equip them all with nice, new Cadillac & Packard & Rolls-Royce-poward ships, planes, tanks, along with all the guns, ammo, uniforms, helmets, tents, etc.? Did they run up a Huuuuge, huge bill on their Mastercard? I mean, where did that money or credit, come from? BTW, Ford Motor was on the verge of broke, broke, broke in the middle of WW2. Yup. That's why they had to let HF 2 outof the service, to reorganize & manage the company. See--it was privately held, Edselhad died, and Ol' Henry was in bad shape due to age-related issues. But yeah--if we'da had REAL patriotic leadership--we'da turned down an invitation to go party in Europe and Asia, and simply defended our borders, as needed! I know what you kids are "thinking"--rememberPearl Harbor, as seen on moooo-vEEEEEs and tEEE-vEEE!!! Ha.
But---Pearl Harbor was not being defended! It was just sitting there, just waiting to be attacked. Now you know. Okay--example of massive hoarding #2. Studebaker in South Bend hand been manufacturing for a looong time, whenthey ceased in the mid 60's. There was a Huuuuge multi-story warehouse building in S.B., full of car parts. Plus, dealerships around the country were closingor changing car lines---going toChryslerProducts, AMC,or imports. Yup. They stillkept some study parts toservice loyal customers. But, eventually what happened was, thelocal Studebaker dealer in SB bought all those parts, and I believe leased the enormous old building they were in. Hoarders went around buying up cache's of parts former dealers held in old inventory, too. Yup. Anyway, the SB dealer sold parts out of that place until the late 90's, and then sold the inventory toa llongtime employee, who then had tomove everything acrodss the street to another old building, because the county wanted to raze the building to build a nice, new jail complex, on the site. Ha. That's progress. Anyway, the parts changed hands again, and were inventoried, moved to another former auto plant in South Bend. Not cheap rent, either. But, they didn't just dumpster everything, to tidy up. See? That's the moral of the story. Yup. Hope that helps you some. Thankk Mee.
