DH and I went to see a live theatrical performance last night for the first time in two years! It is a small local theater that we love and they always do a cool spooky show in October. This was "Short and Scary" and it was eight mini-plays. They took Covid precautions very seriously: only 25 allowed in the audience, chairs well spaced apart, had to show proof of vaccine or negative test, and masks required. All performers and crew were vaccinated. Here we are in our festive seasonal masks (Rosa needs her roots done, lol!)

Neat, rosa! Love the masks and glad you had such a good time.

    Good for you rosa.

I think psychologically I am ready to venture out into some spaces with crowds. Maybe. I am vaguely thinking about taking a plane trip within the U.S.next spring. It is too far to drive, and a super boring drive at that.

I'm scared to venture in crowds now unless I get my booster. But with my boyfriends awful reaction to the booster (he is fine just a couple days of fever, body aches and headache no tylenol could cure), I'm not looking forward to that either, it's like geez I'll suffer for a couple days crazy "sick" from the booster.

Nor will they even give clear guidance on boosters for people my age either (though noone can beat Trump for sheer stirring up chaos, Biden's handling of it all has been pretty incompetent I have to say).

I like going to films in theaters. There are too many distractions at home.

Due to Covid and virtual learning, there hadn't been any promotions in my youngest's ROTC journey. Now that things are back to normal, he has finally gotten a promotion to Petty Officer 3rd Class. He is also an Assistant Operations Officer. What I do find odd is that he said he will be receiving a medal for returning to school after the whole pandemic thing played out. Not sure why that warrants a medal. What else was he supposed to do?

I feel like I have the world's greatest daughter-in-law. We saw them yesterday and had lunch and played board games and laughed so hard. She loves the Dansk giant salad bowl that I found for her at at Michigan estate sale--my son didn't want to take it because he said where would we store it, and she took one look at it and said, "I'll take it." She went walking out with it cradled against her protectively, like a baby. So yesterday she made a fabulous salad in it and I complimented her on it and she started laughing and said they had been fighting over it, and we all laughed about that. It's become sort of a family joke but also an instant heirloom, since the moment I saw it, I wanted her to have it--they entertain a lot, and it's beautiful, and I never have that many people over. What is great is she already cherishes it, and I get to visit and see this happy family around her table, the way I always dreamed.

    She is the best.

Yesterday DH returned, to the alley, a working small refrigerator. I gave him a hug for his ability to let one refrigerator/freezer unit go.

That’s where he got it a year ago, from the alley. He has been using it in Hermann, but no longer needs it. We have 2 standard size refrigerators and one standard size freezer there now in the basement.

I love it. So nice when you feel your daughter-in-law is more like a daughter than an in-law. Sounds like you are building a great relationship.
