    Red-flowering currant (Ribes sanguineum)? They're native in WA.

    Thanks Kay! It was the first bee I'd seen, and it looked so very much like Spring might be here at long last.

    (Sort of silly to go all the way to that refuge and then hike in, to take a picture of a bee, but, well, there it is :-) )
