Okay---You kids may've heard the news about Elizabeth Smart(she's still making news) & Mary Kay Schmidt Letourneau Fuulau(she died, before I could rescue her), but have you heard that Susan Smith might be getting paroled? She's already got a man lined up, to marry her if/when she's released! Amay--zeen! They've been pen pals, for a while. Ahh-summ! Like the late, pathetically annoying singer Kenny Rogers said, "there's some one for every one......". Yup. Ha. Smith will prolly be too old to have more kids, so she'll need to adopt. Now you know. Just ask me. Hope that helps you some.

Okay---I been spying on you kids, over on that other thread. Stalking you all, to see what your musical preferences are. Well, now I have a need to bully & abuse you, because I've developed a stereotype of what the typical SL-er here likes. They tend to like: A)music they first heard when they were between 15-23 years old, and: B) Music which falls under the broad genre: Americana. Or, C): A & B combined. When I was a young boy, I watched American Bandstand. It was pretty good. But, at that time, there was a show broadcast from this very city called "Ozark Jubilee", that even at that age, I could not stand. Y'see: I detest hillbilly music or bluegrass and its derivatives like a sickness! Yup. See? That does not mean, however, that ANY and every record that contains a Banjo or steel guitar or mandolin or cowboy hats & from Nashville is automatically hated by littlebittymee. Not hardly. They CAN sound good, under certain circumstances. I guess it also goes along with my policy of not liking spoken-word records, too. How 'bout some Red Sovine, folks! Ha. No thanks. Now you know. Say--did you kids listen to the Capital Childrens Choir on youtube? Give several of them a try--especially the older ones 2011-2013. The kids in them would prolly be adults w/kids,by now. But, their covers of certain contemporary music from England is very(xxxx4)good. I may be biased, because Jolly England (and NYC) are the center of my music universe. Sorry--no banjos accompanying the kids. Ha. But, they've got the harmony. You bet. Hope that helps you some. Thankk Mee.

    Nope.

As a younger man, I was a huge fan of the Southern Rock genre. The Marshall Tucker Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Allman Brothers, ZZ Top, The Amazing Rhythm Aces, Blackoak Arkansas, you get the idea.

If you'd like to hear maybe the greatest one time collaboration of the genre ever recorded, take a look at The Band and The Staples performing The Weight. (you can thank meee later)

LOL, I think I have four or five copies of that concert.

I had a dvd copy, then found a bluray copy for $5, and my late boss, loved the concert. It was his most watched and he had me buy multiple copies (kept one with every dvd player), because he used to also give them away. (used to buy seven at a time)

One of the last things, he was wanting a projector, to watch it in the back yard, and I was wanting a projector, for a computer project (Shootoff). We were going to split the cost and he let me pick the projector.
Angie bought the screen, because she wanted to watch Liveaid, with it, in the back yard. Steve wanted me to bring over my laptop, and play the full, uncut, all song version, I found on Youtube, from a camera left on during filming.

I have one littlebitty 45 rpm record of the Staples Singers called: "I'll take You There". I believe it was recorded at the Muscle Shoals sound studio. Yup. The bass wreaked havoc with the speaker on the AM radio in my 61 Chevy. But, that record DOES definitely have melody, rhythm, rhyme, and harmony. Yup. Now, there IS but one or maybe two spoken-word records--"Wear Sunscreen", which was produced--not performed--by Baz Luhrmann. and then--"West End Girls"by Pet Shop Boys is kinda spoken word and I have those, too. Yup. Also, Lexington Lab Band on Youtube has many note-for-note covers from the 70's that are nonetheless more polished than the originals, including Skynyrds' "That Smell". Yup. One of my top 500favorites is "Here you come again" made famous by Dolly Parton. Country Music from---Nooo Yawk Cittty!!!??? Yup. Brill Building. Weil & Mann. Yup. Hope that helps you some. Thankk mee.

Kids, give the Capital Childrens Choir a try. Yes, I've heard that song--what is it: "take a load up granny, take a load for free, take a load up granny, you put the load right backon meeeeee", involuntarily, at least 10 million times on the radios they play their boogie-woogie hillbilly jammin' music on, around here. Hope that helps you some. Thankk Mee. ETA: it is by little feat, but same difference. I may be a hillbilly in some ways, and I may be a hippy in some ways, but I still don't like most Improv/Roots Music/Americana. Hope that helps you some. Thannkkmee.

Okay---somebody said they didn't want to hear any stories about torture and painful experiences. But, this'l just take a minute. What happened was, that bike ride upin I-wah had Davenport, as the end town. Unfortunately, it coincided with the Bix Beiderbecke Dixieland jazz memorial festival, and there was non-stop jammin'(like the kind of stuff you guys like), allafternoon, until the bus left, and jeez I could hardly wait. I DO NOT APPRECIATE IMPROV BOOGIE_WOOGIE SOUTHERN_STYLE "STUFF", That experience was TORTURE!! See? Try and broaden your musical horizons. Listen to some actual MUSIC, instead of long-haired partiers pretending to play music. Hope that helps you kids some. Thank Mee.

I listened to a couple of tunes by the Capital Children's Choir. There is certainly a lot of talent there, but it's just not my cup of tea.

    Oops, changed listed to listened.

Okay--one unofficial genre I like is what I call "Brill Building Music". Doesn't mean I like EVERY song that ever came out of the Brill Building, and have recordings of them all. It's just that I like a considerable number of those songs, recorded by popular artists. See? A whole lot of it was country-pop-rock-music, that was released on 45 rpm records. See? Then, there's a certain Lady in Ca. who is not a performer, but has composed a LOT of country-pop-rock songs, and made a fortune, doing it. The lyrical themes of most of the songs are romance, okay? But, the composer says she's never been "in love"(like you kids) and certainly has never married. So, she's a spinster, who says she refuses to rearrange her office, on account of a superstitious belief that it will affect her music. See? Anyway, the last concert I attended, oh at least 15 years ago, was at an outdoor arena in Ks. Well, the secondary, opening act was better than the headliner, in mylittlebitty estimation, and as you've realized, I'm usually correct. You had Ms Leeann Rimes singing: "How do I live?", written by the great (spinster songwriter) Diane Warren. See? One time, I was hospitalized, and only one radio station was available,so I got to hear Sara Evans' sing "I could not ask for more", many times over. There's another version by Edwin McCain, too. Written by Diane Warren. I'd have those, and more on 45 rpm singles, but they stopped making them, by then. This does not mean that I am a certified member of the Diane Warren Cult & Fan Club, and have numerous albums and CDs of her music, and travel LONG distances to week-long Diane Warren Music Festivals, if there were such a thing. I'm not a member of some sub-culture that calls themselves "Dianeites" or something. No, not at all. But, I do appreciate a lot of her clever songs written and recorded by various artists. See? Hope that helps you kids some. Now, try listening to youtube videos of The Park View Mennonite Church. They have a pretty good choir. In my old age, it seems I'm developing an appreciation of good choir music. Not ALL choir music; just what I consider good. That's what I call Progress. See? Hope that helps you some. Thank kMee.
