here you will see, behind the buckets of rock, the long iron piece I’ve been tripping over for 30 years in our city basement. Imagine my surprise to see it appear in our garage in Hermann! It’s served no useful purpose in the city it will serve no useful purpose in Hermann. But it will probably continue to trip me until I die.

Also we have about 10 buckets of gravel and rubble rock that DH is digging up from our Hermann yard and hauling back to the city to put into dumpsters. Really efficient, right?

Bless his heart, DH is the hardest worker you will ever meet. But sometimes I gotta wonder…

p.s. I will not entertain any smart Alec comment about this iron piece serving the useful purpose of tripping me! I’m smarter than it, and I will not let it defeat me or kill me.

Couldn't you just hang it on a wall with one of those clamp thingies people use for rakes and shovels, or a makeshift setup? You've probably considered that, but...

I will suggest that to him, but I think it will be OK scooted over to the edge of the garage where it will live well beyond me. It is super heavy, and I asked him why he didn’t trade it in for scrap metal and he said “it’s too long. “. I do not understand why we have it.

Find a welder and have them make it into something for your garden.

Longer items like that (long handled tools for me, crap for my dad), tend to be put in the rafters so it can be seen when needed, but not tripped over.

Our fancy dancy garage has a finished ceiling! There are no rafters! But our basement in the city had rafters yet it would not dwell there and I do not know why. But in those rafters were plenty of scrap pieces of lumber. I’m not sure how much of that scrap lumber will come to live in Hermann, it’s all a mystery to me.

A couple of days ago I was returning home after some outdoor recreation. The route takes me through a town of 500 and as you approach the town on the highway there is a warning of a reduced speed limit and then the actual speed limit sign. In another hundred yards there is a stop light, a T and then main street. Because of the stop light, T in the road and then a busy main street it is virtually impossible for a sane driver to speed into town. Well, I was tired and did not slow down fast enough. As the officer put it, I was going over the speed limit where he clocked me 40 yards into the reduced speed area, and issued a citation.

When I got home I googled and the town has a reputation for this and another speed trap. TripAdvisor called one of the worst speed traps in the country as a warning to travelers. The story is that a significant portion of the town's revenue comes from speeding tickets. Should I decide to plead a case in court, the courthouse is in the same town and I'd not expect much mercy. If I instead mail in the fine, they reduce the moving violation points from 4 to 2 on my license. I may just chalk it up to experience and pay.

I wonder if you have anything like this:

Randolph Missouri is/was a known speed trap. The state put a stop on it, as they weren't getting their part. (highway patrol threatening to arrest local LEO's issuing tickets on the highway).
Fortunately, I only went through there twice and no tickets, and since, found out I had a connection to the jail I didn't know.

Now, for my rant of the day. I think Waste Management has been watching too many trash mafia movies.

It sure would be a shame if you all couldn't use your dock to get deliveries:

Waste Management is horrible. Their lobbyist donates to our mayor and then they don't have to do their job.

I'm glad I am not the only one to be duped, but I'd don't know that that's much to be done about it. I'm sure people with more leverage than me have had the same experience. I hope your connection to the jail was not a bad one.

I use Waste Management is a matter of convenience, which is possibly a long explanation, but they are definitely a money grubbing mega company of which I have a pretty low opinion.

Woman backed into my car today. Said her backup system did not work. Scraped and paint taken off... Told her she should not RELY on the backup but should look too. Could have been worse but still a bummer.

The police in my small community spend most of their time on the highway ticketing speeders... another place that is a speed trap.
