But yeah--those little things can take up your time.
In my area, trash service really isn't essential. About half the people take their trash to the local landfill to dispose of it. We used to but after so many years of having to deal with trash bags covered in maggots, I changed to a trash service.

There are two companies people in my area use... Evergreen and Amber's. We used to have Evergreen. Never really had a problem until the trashmen cracked our can so badly banging it against the truck that it was nearly split in two. Then the madness started of constant calling asking for a replacement. Time after time, they'd schedule a day to bring a new one and never show up. I must have called at least 100 times in a year!! Then when the raccoons started pulling the bags of trash through the crack and making an absolute mess all over, I was done!! That is when I called Amber's.

First pick up was last Saturday and they were there by 7am! I was shocked. Evergreen would wait until late afternoon before coming. Their customer service also seems a lot better than Evergreen. I called up to make sure I would be getting something in the mail or email with our account number on it so I could set up autopay and the very next day, I got what I needed. If that was Evergreen, I would have still been waiting and probably never gotten it.

This is in the organizing forum so I’m going to comment it after 10 straight days of organizing organizing tossing crap and organizing, I’m now at a state of organization.

We moved of course as you all know. I now have boxes that reside pretty much in the rooms where the stuff will need to reside. In my Hermann house we will be living out of boxes for many many months.

In my condo, things are far more organized and so now I can see how the shelf space checks out and how storage really happens in the condo and in the little storage area in the basement.

So yeah, I’m pretty organized. So do I expect a medal for this? Well sure please give me one!
oh, I organize things in stages and so the fact that I have bunches of things in boxes, with those boxes placed in rooms where they will be used, that’s my organizing principal. I still don’t have products within the boxes organized and in place.

And something that occurred to me couple days ago is that I have essentially been running four kitchens the past two weeks. FOUR! No wonder I can’t get condiments organized for god sake. Or spices.

The kitchens were,: the condo. the City house kitchen where we had to have minimal stuff to eat last two weeks of our residency there. And then two kitchens in Hermann, the basement bachelor pad kitchen and the real kitchen upstairs. Hell I probably have eight jars of pickles floating around all these places. I will be happy when we get down to TWO kitchens.

Oh honey, I sit on the couch many hours a day. Believe me, I’m not stressing myself.
Or maybe you me and my posts are long and involved and tearing to read and I grok that. that!

DH is the energizer bunny in our household. I think of him as a little wind up toy you just kind of point him towards the task at hand and he just goes and goes and goes until it’s done.

In retirement though he’s only working hard four hours a day rather than 10 hours a day.

Getting rid of that pot and hoodie a few days ago really sparked some decluttering in me. All things that didn't necessarily needed to go but I never used them so why keep them. Last night while dinner was cooking, I went through cabinets and looked to see if anything could be decluttered. Found more than I expected.

Battery powered smoke detector- When I redid all our smoke detectors to those 10 year ones, I was accidentally sent one of the regular battery ones instead of the lithium kind. I decided to keep it "just in case" but decided last night to just get rid of it. If something happened to the other smoke detectors, I wouldn't want to go back to a regular battery one anyway.

Cooking ingredients and spices- Things I had bought for a specific recipe and had never used since were tossed.

Measuring cup- I had three of them for some reason. Two large ones and a small one. I never used the small one so I tossed it.

Wallet sized photos- These were in my nightstand in the bedroom. Extras of my youngest's HS Senior pictures that were never sent out and not needed any longer got tossed.

Mixing bowl- I tossed it and then pulled it back out but now I'm thinking when I get home, it will get tossed for good. I have many mixing bowls and again, I never use this one so why keep it.

Well, I only made about $100 on our garage sale last Friday and Saturday. It was very hot work. Never again. I dropped off all the stuff that didn't sell to a local thrift store today at lunchtime. I'm happy to have the space in my garage again where we'd been piling up stuff for the last few months.

Becky Liz, now you can get rid of stuff as you find it...just take it to the thrift shop rather than waiting for the garage sale.

yes! This is a good outcome.

They are even things I don’t want to burden Goodwill with because I shop regularly at Goodwill, and I think I know what kind of crap they don’t want. I don’t know, maybe not.
