I was given some chickens and ducks by a neighbor who couldn't take care of them anymore. They put an end to sleeping in. I don't sell eggs, whenever I go somewhere I bring eggs. Don't wash them other than spot cleaning. Unwashed eggs last way longer.

For sure. Eggs keep surprisingly well, especially when kept cool. But, I did not know about the washing vs non washing. Thanks.

I have heard that too, about unwashed eggs having a protective coating. I would certainly welcome fresh eggs. My DH used to work with a woman who would sometimes chicken-sit for a neighbor, and occasionally she shared fresh eggs with us.

Birds lay the eggs with a coating that provides a bit of extra protection. Unwashed can keep for up to 6 months in a fridge.

Okay---The people I purchase eggs from have an egg-washer, which is fine with mee. Yup. I use 'em up in a timely manner, so long-term storage is not a requirement. But, it's interesting to know. I have tried to see just how long my egg cartons can be re-used. One 18-egg styrofoam carton developed some tears. I think maybe a catt was playing with it. You know how they are. Anyway, I repaired it with a product that is very useful called: Shoo Goo. But, guess what? When I took it by for a refill, they gave me a much newer carton, this time. Oh, well. Hope that helps you some.

Okay----I'm about outta eggs. Guess what? I don't really like eggs, very well. But I have a craving for them. Also, I feed them to my doggs, once in awhile. I hard-boil them for myself & also the huskees, and mix em with their dry food. The catts don't seem to care for eggs. Nope. Okay---today & yesterday, I messed with the batterie(s) in my 1977 GMC pickup. I just overhauled the engine, in 1980. At that time, I used the engine in a 1973 Chevy 3/4 ton. But, that's another story. Anyway---the GMC has been sitting for a couple months. I start it occasionally, to keep the battery up, and charge the battery on the winch on my trailer. But yeah---they froze during this last cold spell, and after charging all afternoon yesterday, they'd crank the engine for a short time. I knew they were toasted, but wanted to get the last bit of use of of it. Then, last night, a storm came up. I got just about everything under cover EXCEPT the battery charger charging the pickup battery. Plus, one catt was locked out in my storage shed while I was re-organizing. She was comfy & had a light in in there. Plus--one other cat, outside that evaded me. Well, she took cover and was on the doorstep early this morning. I went out back and got the other girl out of the shed. So, I went to the building material place to get some very classy material for the interior of my backyard cottage---1/4 OSB AKA waferboard, and some boards for my fence gate. So---my pickup would not crank at the lumber yard, but a gentleman kindly get it a boost, as I had brought along cable in case. After I arrived back at the ranch, I went to the wreckin' yard and picked up a big battery for $50. Poiunt is, lots of people would not allow such an event to interrupt their busy day with such frustration. Nope. They'd say hey---time to "trade"(get screwed) this ol' bucket o' bolts in. Get a nice NEW one, with a WARRANTY!! Yup. Warranty=paying in advance for the repairs any vehicle might need. Kind of like "Free" stuff from the gummmint. Hope that helps you kids some. Thankk Mee.

Oh, yeah. Polar Doggs. I putt new straw in their houses, springkled with Bayer Bug Dust, for the next cold snap. I almost could not sleep at night, when it was below zero, lately. But, I hauled warm water and lots of dogg foo1d out, and they were fine. I see people downtown around campus who have purebred siberians on leashes that are house dogs, and they are "pretty", but not very robust. But, if you keep a purebred siberian outdoors, year-round in a 30' x 50' dogg run, with stuff to jump on, and walk it at tthe park on occasion, thatt dogg will be very, very Huskee! Because they will do their own exercise routine, and develop an all-weather coat. I follow the pet lost & found, and huskees and boston terriers are about THE most stray-prone purebreds. Why? They are hyper-active breeds, yet urban Consumers buy them for their looks, as hpuse pets. Huskeees aren't good with catts, unless they are raised from a puppy with them. But yeah---they are destructve, too. Just for something to do. Hope that helps you some.

Okay-----The other day, I made some reference to Fidel Castero, as though I was disparaging him. Welll---he was a dictator-for-life, even though he claimed that was not his intention, at the outset. But yeah---at least his regime greatly reduced consumerism in his island nation, and was not lavished with U.S.foreign aid like SOME small nations I know of. Right? But yeah---here's an old Huttson in Cuba that apparently is a dailyt Driver. It has some creative ways to maintain it, too. Hope that helps you some.2023-01-04 (1).jpg
