    Very nice!

I spent an hour on the screened porch this morning drinking my coffee, no smoke, coolish small breeze, blue sky, the elec. wire is the meeting place of 2 bluebirds who I think are encouraging their babies to fledge ( the bird house is under the wire) ..2 goldfinches stopping by to watch, a brown thrasher, a hummingbird taking a rest after a quick stop at the feeder, a dove putting in her two cents worth, a mocking bird just sitting, not aggressively defending anything and then a chipmunk on the edge of the porch.

Off today and tomorrow. Up to the Straits of Mackinac for shipwreck diving. This is where the Mackinac Bridge is.

We have a big garden bed right below the deck, a bed that was unexpected and one I had not planned for. It is formed by huge ugly block wall. My rave is that this appears to be deer proof! So far this year I have piled daylilies, Lilies, and a few hostas in it, and none were touched by deer. I am seeing pretty daylilies in bloom that I haven’t seen bloom here for three or four years, because in the past the deer just chew off the buds.

This is HUGE! If I have this very large area where I can put deer favorite foods, that changes so much! This ugly bed is a blessing in disguise.

Had I known this I would have brought many more hostas with me to Hermann from my city garden. As it is, I dug the very special ones and brought them in pots.

This bed is a game changer.

Celebrating my 26th wedding anniversary today! Not bad for only knowing the guy 3 months before we got married (and no, I wasn't pregnant).

Had the auction today. They said it was exceptional! We put the few things that did not sell on the curb for free. In a day, we will dispose of what is left. We still have books, clothes and food to go through. Closing is a week from Friday. We sold everything so are camping out in the house. Got a "nice" air mattress... will see how that goes. We have been VERY fortunate in that everything is going according to plan. We got much more for the house than we expected and the auction provided a tidy sum as well. Everyone keeps asking me if I am sad and, truthfully, I am thrilled to have this all behind me. We are at the stage where we don't need a big house and all that entails.
